Tamilnadu Common Admissions 2008 (TANCA-2008) M.E/ M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan Degree Programmes
Tamilnadu Common Admissions (TANCA-2008) will be administered by Anna University Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for admissions to ME/ M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan. Degree Programmes in Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu for the academic year 2008-09 through Single Window Counselling.
Applications are invited for the Single Window Counselling Admissions to ME/ M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan. Degree Programmes offered in Government aided institutions, and seats surrendered by the Self Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu.
The list of Colleges and courses under the single window counseling of admission is available in the website: www.annauniv.edu/tanca2008.
Application Form:
Candidates have to submit separate application for each category. The categories for admission are (1) GATE-A, (2) GATE-B, (3) Non-GATE and (4) Sponsored (Full-Time/ Day-Part Time for sets in University Departments of Anna University Chennai).
Eligibility:
1. Candidates who have written the TANCET 2008 (for ME/ M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan. Degree Programmes), valid GATE-A score, valid GATE-B score with TANCET-2008.
2. Reservation for physically challenged candidates are available as per the Government norms for Non-GATE category only.
The details of the eligible qualifications and other information are available in the information booklet and also in the website. Candidate who have appeared for the final year/ semester examinations in April/ May 2008 may also apply.
In Person:
Application form can be obtained in person by Cash/ Demand Draft for Rs.500/- (for General), Rs.250/- (for SC/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on production of copy of Community Certificate) towards registration fee at the following Institutions.
1. Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai.
2. Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore.
3. Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai
4. Govt. College of Engineering, Salem
5. Anna University, Tiruchirapalli
6. Govt. College of Engineering, Tirunelveli.
7. Thanthai Periyar Govt. Institute of Technology, Vellore
8. Alagappa College of Technology, Karaikudi, and
9. Government College of Engineering, Bargur.
By Post:
Application form can also be obtained by post by sending Demand Draft for Rs.600/- (for General), Rs.350/- (for SC/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on production of copy of Community Certificate), (including postal charges) along with a requisition letter and a self-addressed slip to the Secretary, TANCA, Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai, Chennai – 600 025.
By Internet Registration:
The candidate can also register through Internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tanca2008. After filling the required details in the application form press the submit button then take a print out, affix a photograph and the signature of the candidate at the appropriate space provided. The print out of the application along with DD for Rs.500/- for General, Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu with a copy of Community Certificate, towards registration fee and send by speed/ registered post to the address given below.
Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Director, Admissions, Anna University Chennai” payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalised Bank on or after 08.06.2008. The name and address of the candidates should be written on the reverse side of the demand draft.
Counselling date will be intimated to individuals through a call letter/ Anna University Chennai website by the Secretary, TANCA, Anna University Chennai, Chennai – 600 025.
a) Commencement of Issue of Application Form: 11.06.2008
b) Last date for issue of application at Cities other than Chennai, by post and Registration through internet: 25.06.2008
c) Last date for issue and submission in person at Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai: 27.06.2008.
The completed applications should reach the Secretary, TANCA, Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai – 600 025 on or before 27.06.2008 by 5.30 p.m. Applications received after the due date and time will not be considered.
Note:
Women candidates with B.E. qualification in Civil Engineering/ Geo-Informatics/ Agricultural Engineering and with interest in Water Management are eligible for M.E Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) with fellowship of Rs.5000/- per month (for which TANCET is not required).
