Entrepreneurship is the practice of starting new organizations, particularly new businesses generally in response to identified opportunities. It is often a difficult undertaking, as a vast majority of new businesses fail. Entrepreneurial activities are substantially different depending on the type of organization that is being started. Entrepreneurship ranges in scale from solo projects (even involving the entrepreneur only part-time) to major undertakings creating many job opportunities. Many high-profile entrepreneurial ventures seek venture capital or angel funding in order to raise capital to build the business. Angel investors generally seek returns of 20 – 30 percent and more extensive involvement in the business. Many kinds of organizations now exist to support would-be entrepreneurs, including specialized government agencies, business incubators, science parks and some NGOs.

Many youngsters are leaving their well-paid jobs to establish their own small entrepreneurial ventures. This is the sector which is growing the fastest today. The big money in the long run and the freedom to choose their own rainbows are, of course, major guiding factors. Today, the scope and variety of self-generated work is unlimited. Home ventures too offers enormous opportunities for the enterprising. The range of options for self-generated work is immense and many of these can even be conducted from home.

Broadly, it can be divided into three activities: providing service, selling something, and manufacturing (making).

There is no specific entry requirement. Also there is no specific eligibility requirement. But it’s always better to have some experience in the field in which you are starting up something.
