Women’s studies is an interdisciplinary academic field devoted to topic concerning women, feminism, gender and politics.

It often includes feminist theory, women’s history example: history of women’s fiction, women’s health and the feminist and gender studies.

The major thrust areas of studies would be generating awareness towards women’s issues, gender sensitivity, women’s empowerment, expression of the women’s voice, socio-cultural factors and marginalization, legal rights of/for women, restructuring women’s role in history, critical analysis of stereotyping.

The Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal, offers a postgraduate programme in Women’s Studies.
