132. I am studying Civil Engineering. Am I eligible for Ocean Engineering?



You are eligible for admission to do masters in Ocean Engineering. Ocean Engineering is the branch of Engineering concerned with the design, analysis and operation planning of systems that operate in an oceanic environment. Examples of systems range from oil platforms to submarines, from breakwaters to sailboats.

Ocean Engineering is a multidisciplinary field of Technology applied to the ocean environment. It is a combination of the classical engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical and electrical engineering with naval architecture and applied ocean sciences.

Its focus is on the development of equipment and techniques for exploring the ocean floor and its resources. It involves thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, electrical circuits and applied math.

Some career areas to consider are: offshore oil recovery, marine metals and corrosion, environmental protection, global climate, monitoring, renewable energy, underwater vehicles, remote sensing, marine transportation, naval architecture and Defence.
