Aeronautical Engineering is offered as an under graduate degree course of four years duration at a limited number of institutions including:
1. Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (www.pec.ac.in),
2. Anna University, Chennai (www.annauniv.edu),
3. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (www.jntu.ac.in),
4. Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Vasad (affiliated to Gujarat University),
5. Hindustan College of Engineering, Chennai – 603 103
6. Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, Secunderabad – 500 011
7. Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (www.iist.ac.in) etc.
The IITs offer Aerospace Engineering programmes. Candidate who have successfully completed Section A & B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Aeronautical Society of India (www.aesi.org/) are treated at par with those holding a Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from an Indian University. The entry point requirement is plus two or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and admission would be through an Engineering Entrance Test. The fee structure would depend upon the Institution and the status of the College (private unaided or aided/government). Placement prospectus would depend upon the reputation of the institution. However, engineers of other disciplines such as computers, electronics, mechanical, etc. may also pursue post graduate courses or take up jobs in aeronautical Engineering.
