The Institution:
PSGR Krishanmmal College for Women was started on 28th June 1963, by Shri. G. R. Govindarajulu and Smt. G. Chandrakanthi. It was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri. Bhakthavatchalam. It caters to the needs of women in higher education. Having started modestly with 35 students and 10faculty members, it has now established itself as a pioneer institution offering traditional and modern courses with state-of-art technology, from UG to research programmes. The College is accredited with 5 Star Status by NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Council) and is awarded Autonomous Status.
Our Inspiration:
The combined vision of Shri. G.R. Govindarajulu and Smt. G. Chandrakanthi transformed Peelamedu into an educational paradise. Through Education and Social Service they empowered women in society.
Mission:
The Institution aims at all-round development of the students, empowering them with entrepreneurial and decision making skills by providing an excellent academic environment, inculcating values of discipline, dignity, dedication and devotion to higher causes along with sportsmanship, to make them better citizens.
Infrastructure:
A clean and green campus, multistoried buildings with spacious classrooms and well equipped laboratories welcome the students. The computerized general library is stocked with the latest books and journals both, national and international. The MBA and MCA students are housed in individual blocks. The computer science department has three modern computer labs for UG and PG courses respectively. They have a library that caters to their specific needs.
Volleyball and Basketball courts and other sports facilities are available. The Hostel situated just 2 km away from the college accommodates more than 1000 students. Nutritious and hygienic food is available at the canteen. Refreshments and noon meals are provided at subsidiary rates.

A team of highly qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty undertakes learner centred teaching, and guides the students in their holistic development.

Academic Profile:
The institution has continued to bag the maximum numbers of ranks from the time of the inception of Bharathiar University and maintains a high pass percentage of above 90%. The institution became autonomous in 2004 and, enjoys academic freedom to update and modernize curriculum to meet global standards and introduce Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
Co-Curricular Activities:
Students are not only academically trained but are also groomed in various fields leading to a healthy development of their all round personality. NCC has always been the pride of the college.
There are two NCC units, which provide an opportunity to the students to exhibit their talents in shooting, aero modeling, map reading, gliding, parasailing, mountaineering and trekking.
The cadets have represented the Tamil Nadu Contingent at the Republic Day Parade and have also participated in Youth Exchange Programmes. The two NSS units have been engaged in computer literacy program, vocational training, development of entrepreneurial skills, formation of self-help groups, etc., in the adopted villages as well as at the other centers of service.
The YRC has more than one hundred blood donors. Members undergo First Aid Training, visit Old Age Homes and Orphanages. Regular YRC classes are conducted for Undergraduates.
Special coaching given in the field of sports and games has resulted in students excelling in Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Athletics, Karate, Power Weight Lifting etc., at the University, State and National level Meets.
Value Addition:
Job Oriented Add on Courses such as Insurance, Tourism, Creative Writing and Theatre Arts are conducted after college hours to ensure employment. Training for Competitive Exams is also offered. Short duration certificate courses take care of the carried interest of the students.
Women’s Studies Centre – A catalyst for holistic development of women. This UGC sponsored Centre will focus on the role of women in society and adopt strategies for development of the society without gender bias.
State-of-art infrastructure for research (CMIE data base, on-line journals, SPSS package, etc) in various fields. Indian Art and Culture are promoted through film shows and exams conducted for the final year students.
Seminars, Workshops, etc:
Every year a number of seminars, symposiums, workshops, guest lectures and exhibitions are organized by the various departments, many of which are sponsored by the UGC. Students are able to interact with experts in their field of study and are exposed to the latest developments.
Counseling Cell:
Students with personal problems or financial difficulties are given guidance and counseling by a team of experienced faculty.
EDP:
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell offers further professional training and instructions to students to promote entrepreneurial initiatives.
Scholarships:
Scholarships are given every year to meritorious and deserving students.
Alumni:
The Old Students Association of the college acts as a powerful tool in the development of the college and its student community. It awards Gold Medals to the best outgoing students and prizes to the University rank holders. It provides excellent service in the field of placement too.

Eligibility for Admission:
UG Courses:
Candidates for admission to Under Graduate courses (UG) should have passed the XII Standard or Pre-Degree Examination or its equivalent, declared eligible by the Bharathiar University.
PG Courses:
Candidates must have passed the 3 years degree course (under the 10+2+3 pattern) in the respective major subjects, recognized by the University.
Any Graduate either Arts/Science/Management/Commerce/Engineering who has studied Economics or Mathematics or Statistics as one of the papers in Under Graduate (UG) level is eligible for admission to MBE course.
Other Rules & Regulations:
* Applications should be submitted for each course separately.
* The reference number noted on the Left should be quoted for all future correspondence.
* A card will be sent to each provisionally selected candidate who will be called for interview with the Principal on the date notified thereon.
* At the time of interview the candidate should produce the following.
a. Statement of marks / Grades.
b. Transfer Certificate.
c. Conduct Certificate.
d. Community Certificate (BC, MBC, SC/ST)
e. Prescribed fees.
* Students from Universities other than Bharathiar University / Board will have to apply for recognition of examinations passed by paying the fee prescribed by the University. They must also enclose;
a. The original or Provisional Higher Secondary or Degree Pass Certificate of the course last attended.
b. A certificate from the Principal of the College last studied for having undergone the prescribed course of Degree Examination or Higher Secondary Examination.
* The admission shall be made purely on the basis of Merit subject to the reservation rules of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
* Tuition Fees for SC/ST candidates will not be charged at the time of Admission (for aided courses only).
* If a candidate has passed the qualifying examination in more than one sitting or through the compartmental system, the register numbers of all such sittings should be clearly indicated in the respective columns.
* Candidates who have passed examinations other than Tamilnadu Higher Secondary and Bharathiar University have to obtain the Eligibility Certificate from the Bharathiar University for admission.
* It is the responsibility of the student to get back her Original Certificates except TC and CC soon after admission.
* Every candidate admitted should submit two copies of her passport size photograph to the head of the concerned department at the time of joining the college, to be affixed in the identification card.
* Admission will be subject to verification of mark certificates by the Director of Government Examinations and if the Certificate of Marks is found to be Bogus at a later date, admission is liable for cancellation and criminal action will be taken.
* Candidates finally selected in the interview will be admitted on payment of the prescribed fees after which their names will be entered in the rolls of the college.
* Candidates are directed to take sufficient number of attested copies of Transfer Certificates and Conduct Certificates before joining the College. On no account will the certificates be returned.
