SIHMA is one of the biggest Associations in South India and nearly 50 years old. SIHMA was instituted in 1956, and serving the Hosiery Industry in developing the small & medium scale industries at Tirupur since then. This Association has promoted a separate body under the name of ‘SIHMA – EXPORT WING” and serving to the member exporters in all aspects.
SIHMA is offering wide range of services including Management Consultancy & Training, Export Promotion, Modernization programs, etc. SIHMA conducts various programs like information technology know how ISO – 9002, etc. from the time to time enhance the skills and knowledge of Entrepreneurs, Students, Corporate Executives, etc.
Open market economy is a reality today. The country and its exporters will have the competition in export business with our neighbouring countries like China, Thailand, South Korea, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. The exporters’ responsibilities are heavy in modernizing our plant & machinery to develop the skilled labour strength, manufacturing quality and value added products, producing large quantities, export the products within the scheduled delivery time at competitive price, etc.
In this, liberalized scenario with more competition, there is a large demand for trained professionals. To cater to this demand SIHMA is willing to provide quality education at an affordable cost. The objective of SIHMA is to bridge the gap in local training demands with special focus on increasing the skill level of the existing work force and creating new skilled work force for the Hosiery Industry.
To enable this, a training Centre with required latest communication and training facilities is established by SIHMA, namely, SIHMA INSTITUTE OF FASHIO DESIGNING AND APPAREL TRAINING. This institute offers various tailor made courses with the primary objective of providing specialized training and guidance to unemployed educated youth and prospective Entrepreneurs. This will enable the industry to get trained manpower, who in turn will bring out better quality products. In line with this principle, SIHMA organizes tailor made programmes to develop the leadership and managerial qualities of the Corporate Executives by continuously updating them with the latest management techniques.
These qualities had made “United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)” to recognize this Institute as one of the Human Resources Development centre for their cluster development program. This understanding is continued by “Textiles Committee” (Government of India, Ministry of Textiles) which has taken over, Tirupur cluster Development program from UNIDO.
