Introduction to TISS - Tata Institute of Social Sciences

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936, as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work.

During its seven decades of existence, the TISS has carved out a niche for itself in the field of human service professional education and applied social science research. TISS offers B.A. Social Work with specialisation in Rural Development. This programme aims to build commitment and competency in facilitating participatory change and tranformation in rural areas.



12th passed students in any stream with 50% marks (40% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) are elgible to apply. Selection wiill be based on wriitten test The test aims to assess the knowledge of the candidate on contemporary issues in the field and sensitivity to social issues.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for group disscussion and interview. For SC and ST Candidates, Pre-admission Coaching will be organised by TISS.
