IDSA Fellowships, 2004
The Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses is a premier Think Tank established in 1965 with excellent facilities for research. It is an autonomous Society operating with grants from government.Multi-disciplinary research in a spectrum of national and international security matters is undertaken by scholars from academia, the Services and other agencies.
Applications are invited for the following Fellowships which are normally tenable for 3 years.
Senior Fellows: Ph.D. or M.Phil ( at least B + ) or MA/BE/MSc degree ( at least second class) with a minimum research experience of about 10, 13 or 16 years respectively and published work of a high order in refereed journals.Candidates should have the ability to work in inter-disciplinary teams and guide junior scholars. Scale of pay : Rs.14,300-450-22,400 with admissible allowances.
Research Fellows:Ph.D. or M.Phil ( at least B+) or MA/BE/MSc., degree ( at least second class) with a minimum research experience of about 5,8 or 10 years respectively and published work of a high order in refereed journals. Candidates should have the ability to work in inter-disciplinary teams. Scale of pay : Rs.12,000-375-18,000 with admissible allowances.
Associate Fellows: Ph.D. or M.Phil ( at least B+) or Master's degree ( at least second class) with a minimum research experience of about 3,5, or 7 years respectively and published work in refereed journals. Candidates should have the ability to work in inter-disciplinary teams. Scale of pay : Rs.8,000-275-13,500; and admissible allowances.
Research Topics :Candidates should submit a project synopsis on any one of the following indicative topics of current relevance:
a) New approaches to nuclear non-proliferation;
b) Conflict resolution in West Asia;
c) West Asia after Iraq 2003;
d) The role of multi-lateral organizations in international security;
e) Security issues in Africa;
f) Diplomacy/Stability under conditions of proliferation in Southern Asia;
g) Impact of new technologies on national security;
h) Non-traditional aspects of security;
j) Regional/global impact of US foreign and security policies;
k) Trends in China's approach to comprehensive national security;
l) Terrorism;
m) Security issues of the expanded EU;
n) Enhanced Role of NATO and EU Security;
o) Quantitative techniques in security analysis;
p) India's energy security; and q) UN reforms. Other topics would also be entertainedand our website www.idsa-india.org, may be seen for ongoing research.
