GATE 2010 - GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST IN ENGINEERING

Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Masters and Doctoral) in the country, with MHRD and some other Government Scholarships/Assistantships in EngineGring/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science, is open to those who qualify through GATE.
In GATE 2010, computer based ONLINE examination will be held for Mining Engineering (MN) and Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) papers. For other papers, the mode of GATE examination remains the same as in the previous years. Validity of GATE 2010 score will be for a period of TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of results. Eligibility: The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE: (1) Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture/^ years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. (2) Masters degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. (3) Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. (4) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by ICE (I) as equivalent to BEVB.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible-There are two different processes by which a candidate can.apply for GATE 2010, nameiy, "offline" and "online". Foi GENERAL/OBC category candidates, the application fee is Rs. 1000 for offline process and Rs. 800 for online process. For SC/ST/PD category candidates, the application fee is Rs. 500 for offline process and Rs. 400 for online process. The application fee is non refundable. *PD - Person with Disability

Offline Application Process
nformation Brochure and Application Form can be obtained on cash payment from the designated Bank Branches Corresponding to each zone, as given in the'table below. Candidates can also obtain the Information Brochure and Application Form by Post from the zonal GATE offices by sending a request letter and two self-addressed slips along with a Demand Draft for the amount (mentioned as above) to the respective zonal GATE Offices, as given in the table below. Application Form can also be obtained from the zonal GATE Offices after handing over Demand Draft for the appropriate amount'Duly filled-in Application Form alongwith the original bank pay-in-slip or receipt of payment from GATE office must be sent by registered or speed post to the respective zonal GATE Office of the examination city where the candidate wishes to appear.
