Recognizing the need for basic and strategic research for development of technologies in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of indian Agriculture,
Indian Council of Agricultural Research is inviting research proposals. Collaborative research programs and inter-institutional projects will be strongly encouraged. Scientists from all research institutions, universities and private sector located in India are eligible to apply. The aim will be to promote formation of research networks to advance the agricultural research base.
The proposed funding covers all areas of basic science related to agriculture. Some illustrative areas of application are genetic enhancement, resource management, value addition, diagnostics, vaccines, energy managment, climate change, stress management. This scheme will be wide ranging in scope and will integrate basic and agricultural sciences.
We invite scientists to submit concept notes outlining the research proposal, which should not exceed two-three pages and must
include the background and importance, specific objectives, approach and expected output with tentative budget requirement. The proposals of up to five years which can involve multi-institutional collaboration may have budgets of Rs.50 lakhs or more.
The concept note is solicited by 25th May 2006 The proponents of the approved concept notes will be approached for developing the cull project proposal.
