The National Board For Higher Mathematics(NBHM) invites applications for the grant of Research Awards to students for pursuing studies for Ph.D degree in Mathematics.
Eligibility : Applicants should be motivated students with a Master's degree in Mathematics scoring more than 65% of marks.Studetns having master's degree in Statistics or Physics may also apply provided they have a very good background in Mathematics as indicated by the courses taken by them as also by the testimonials submitted. Students who have appeared for Master's degree examination this year also apply. They should have
scored more than 65% marks in their previous semesters. Applicants should be below the age of 25 years as on January 1, 2005 Exceptional cases will however, be considered on merit.
Amount of Scholarship : Research awardees will be paid Rs.8,000/- per month during the first two years. The scholarship amount may be enhanced to Rs.9,000/- per month at the end of the second year after an evaluation of the progress of the awardee by the Board. A contingency grant of Rs.5,000/- per annum will be given.
