Admission Notification 2008-2009
Applications are invited for admission to the following programmes under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) during 2008-2009 in the University Departments.

How to Apply:
Application form and prospectus for the above Courses can be obtained from The Registrar, Periyar University, Salem – 636 011. Applications can also be downloaded from the website: www.periyaruniversity.ac.in. Send hard copy of the application form (A4 size sheet) along with DD for prescribed fee and attested copies of necessary certificates.
Application Cost:
1. Rs.100/- (Free for SC/ST/PH) for all PG Courses
2. Rs.250/- (Free for SC/ST/PH) for M. Phil Courses
3. Rs.350/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST/PH) for MBA, MCA and M. Tech Courses
4. Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST/PH) for M. Ed Course respectively in the form of Demand Draft drawn in any nationalized Bank in favour of The Registrar, Periyar University, payable at Salem.
Other modes of payment are strictly not allowed. The SC/ST/ Physically Challenged candidates are eligible to get one application form free of cost on the production of relevant certificates. A self-addressed stamped envelope for Rs.40/- of size 28 x 13 cms has to be enclosed to get the application by post. Separate request has to be made for each programme. The envelope requesting application form maybe subscribed “Request for application form for admission”.
Mode of Selection: (For MA, M. Sc, M. Com)
Selection will be based on the entrance examination to be held during the first week of June, 2008 in the University campus. Candidates appearing for final semester/ year examinations may also apply but they shall satisfy the eligibility conditions for admission at the time of joining.
Admission Procedure for MBA:
Eligibility: Any Graduate with 50% of marks. Admission through MAT/ CAT/ TANCET scores, group discussion and personal interview.
For MCA:
Eligibility: Candidates who have scored 55% of marks or above in any one of the following or equivalent, are eligible to apply. (i) Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Mathematics t +2 level Or (ii) Bachelor’s degree in any subject with Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the allied courses. Admission through TANCET-2008 score and academic score in UG programme.
For M. Tech (Exploration Geology and Geoinformatics):
Eligibility: M. Sc Degree in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geosciences/ Geophysics/ Marine Geology/ Earth Science. Admission will be based on Academic performance and if necessary entrance test will be conducted. Last date for submission of application is within 20 days from the publication of UG results.
For M. Sc Earth Science (5 Years Integrated course)
Eligibility: 10+2 conducted by Govt. of Tamil Nadu or equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. Admission will be based on +2 marks and if necessary entrance test will be conducted. Last date for submission of applications within 20 days from the +2 Result by Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
Last Dates:
i) Issue of application form by post: 06.06.2008
ii) Issue of application form in person and submission of filled in application form: 10.06.2008
iii) For M. Phil, last date for submission: 15 days from the publication of PG Results
iv) For M. Ed, last date for submission: 15 days from the publication of B. Ed Results
v) For MBA and MCA, last date for submission: 15 days from the publication of TANCET Results.
Separate hostels are available for boys and girls in the University campus.
