PRL has an excellent Ph.D Programme in (i) Physics ( Astronomy , Astrophysics & Solar Physics, Theoretical Physics & Complex Systems , Space & Atmospheric Sciences, and Quantum Optics & Quantum Information ) and (ii) Earth & Planetary Sciences . Applications
are invited for this programme from candidates who have cleared the joint CSIR - UGC - JRF(NET) examination in 2002/2003 in Subject Code - 2 ( Earth, Atmospheric,
Ocean & Planetary Sciences 0 and Subject Code - 5 ( Physical Sciences ). Applications can be made on plain paper giving brief bio-data of the candidate including : Name ; Date Of Birth ; Address for Correspondence ( postal . email id, telephone no. fax no.) ; Details of various examinations passed ( starting with
Higher Secondary ), giving Year of passing , Subjects, Board/University, % marks / CGPA obtained and any other qualifications/achievments. Details of the research opportunities and facilities at PRL can be
found on our website (www.prl.res.in). Short-listed candidates called for interview will be paid II class return train fare and per diem as per the rules.
Eligibility :For Physics stream, M.Sc., in Physics / Applied Physics. For Earth & Planetary Sciences stream , M.Sc/M.Sc. Tech in Physics, Chemistry ( Physical / Nuclear / Analytical). Geology / Geophysics / Oceanography / Marine Science . For both the streams, a minimum of 55% marks at Masters level as well as Physics & Mathematics at B.Sc., level are compulsary. A photocopy of result of the NET certificate must accompany the application.
Stipend & Facilities : Rs.8000/- per month, raised to 9000/- after two years, subject to satisfactory progress, a book grant of Rs.5000/- per year for four years and hostel accommodation on a nominal charge. The registration/tution/examination fees in connection with registration for Ph.D are reimbursed.
