12th All India competitive Examination for admissions to Master?s Degree programmes in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary and Allied Sciences for the academic session 2007 ? 2008 and award of J.R.F.
Applications are invited for the 12th All India Competitive Examination for admissions to 100% seats of Master?s Degree programme at IARI, IVRI, CIFE, NDRI and 25% seats at all the State Agricultural Universities, Central Universities (CAU, BHU, AMU, Visva Bharti and Nagaland University), and AAIDU in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri. Engineering, Home Sciences, Dairy, Fisheries, Veterinary and Allied Sciences for the Academic Session 2007 ? 2008 and award of ICAR?s Junior Research Fellowships (JRF). Details are also available on ICAR website http://www.icar.org.in.

The details of the Major Subject groups and the subject areas have been given in the Information Bulletin. The Fellowships based on merit can be availed in Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes based Deemed-to-be-Universities, and other institutions in which admissions are granted. There are 475 Fellowships (JRF) in 19 major subject groups which will be awarded based on merit rank of the candidate in this examination. The fellowships at present are at the rate of Rs.8000/- per month for graduates of Veterinary Science and Rs.5, 760/- per month for graduates in other disciplines for a period of two years with a contingent grant of Rs.6000/- per annum for all. 15% seats and JRF are reserved for S.C., 7.5% for S.T. and 3% for Physically Handicapped (P.H) candidates. Reservation for OBC will be applicable in Central Universities namely IARI, IVRI, NDRI, CIFE, BHU, AMU and Viswa Bharti as per Govt. of India directives and communication from these Universities. Two percent seats are also reserved for the candidates from under-privileged states (UPS) not having any agricultural/ Veterinary University. There is no reservation of JRF fro candidates form OBC and UPS categories. They would be entitled for JRF based on overall merit. There will not any Direct nomination for admissions. The admission as well as JRF will be given only to those candidates who join the Master?s Degree Programme in a University/ Institute other than from where he/she has obtained Bachelor?s Degree except NDRI, Karnal for the Academic Session commencing 2007 only. Candidates studying for their master?s degree in 1st year can also apply. However, for seeking fresh admission, JRF holders will have to refund the entire amount of JRF received with interest.
Date and Venue of the Examination:
Examination will be held on 19 May 2007 (Saturday) from 10.00 A.M to 12.30 P.M at 27 different Examination Centres all over the country. In no case, even of JRF claims for reimbursement of travel expenses or cost/loss of any kind incurred by the candidate or the guardian for attending the Examination, Counseling and reporting for admission will be entertained.
Candidates having passed their Bachelor?s Degree (or appearing in final year examination during the year 2007) in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Forestry, Agri. Marketing Banking and Cooperation, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Process & Food Engineering, Computer Science, Basic, and Allied Sciences under 10+2+4 (most seats) or 10+2+3 (only few seats) are eligible for admission. Candidates must have obtained OGPA 6.00/10.00 for General, OBC and UPS categories and 5.50/10.00 or equivalent for SC, ST and Physically handicapped categories. For admission in the subject of Veterinary Sciences, candidates must have completed B. V. Sc & A. H with Internship before the date of registration in the University or December 31, 2007 which so ever is earlier. He/ she should be an Indian National and should be completing minimum 19 year of age as on 31.8.2007. The candidate appearing in the Bachelor?s Degree Examination in the year 2007 will have to submit Certificate/ Provisional Mark Sheet signed by the Registrar of the University of their having completed the degree in all respects on the date of Counseling. Non-submission of documentary evidence for having completed the Degree at the time of Counseling will disqualify the candidate.
Most of the participating Universities/ Institutions in this Examination require four years UG degree. In few Universities/ Institutes and in few subjects, graduates from non-agricultural stream with 3 years UG degree are also eligible for admission. For such candidates, if admitted the duration of Master?s Degree Programme would be of 3 years as the 1st year will be for completing remedial courses in Agriculture and no fellowship would be paid during the first year to such candidates. For admission, the candidate has to fulfill the eligibility criteria of the admitting University. Due to small number of seats open for candidates form 3 years UG degree Programmes, ICAR would not assume any responsibility for admitting such candidates even if they qualify and attend Counseling if the vacancies get filled by higher rankers.
Information Bulletins with Application Forms will be available for sale from 01 March 2007 up to 03 April 2007 and can be obtained against Cash payment of Rs.500/- + Rs.25/- (Sale Charges) for General, OBC and UPS Categories and Rs.250/- + Rs.25/- (Sale Charges) for SC, ST and P.H categories from the offices of the Registrars of State Agricultural Universities, CAU Imphal and Syndicate Bank branches at

Information Bulletins with Application Forms can also be obtained by post from 01 March 2007 up to 29 mach 2007 by sending a written request along with a Bank Draft of Rs.550/- (Rs.500/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Forms + Rs.50/- towards postage and handling charges) for General, OBC and UPS Categories and Rs.300/- (Rs.250/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Form + Rs.50 towards postage and handling charges) for S.C, ST and P.H candidates. The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of ?Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR?, payable at New Delhi. A self addressed envelope (size 30??25?) without postal stamps should be sent with an application on plain paper and the Bank Draft to ?The Controller of Examination, Education Division, Room No 226, ICAR, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi ? 110 012?. The request received for the Information Bulletin and Application Forms by post after 29 March 2007 will not be entertained. The candidate may write the details of his/her name and address on the back of the Bank Draft. It may be checked that the Bank Draft contains the name of the issuing bank and branch, signature of the issuing authority, amount in words, date of draft etc clearly. In no case ICAR will be held responsible for non-receipt of the application and bank draft or delay in postage. The Information Bulletin with Application Forms may also be obtained personally from 01 March 2007 up to 3 April 2007 by depositing Bank draft without postage and handling charges at the sale counter of the following Institutions.

However , for the candidate to the remote areas viz Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladak divisions of J&K State, Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Subdivision of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep, the last date is 16 April 2007. Application Forms received after the last date will be rejected and Education Division shall not responsible for non-receipt of application within the time scheduled due to Postal delay or any other reason for delay. All disputes relating any matter connected with this advertisement shall be in the jurisdiction of Delhi Court only.
