IBGB Learning Society is a registered not for profit organization which made a humble beginning in 2009 with the sole purpose to stimulate active interest in geography and environmental studies among young students.

‘Contemporary Geography’ is much more than memorizing names and places. Geography has higher aim than this and it constitutes physical geography where you learn about geo-physical processes (such as plate tectonics, soil formation and climate) and human geography deals with humans and their relationships with communities, cultures, economies, and interactions with the environment by studying their relations with and across locations. Geography also engages with contemporary problems and issues using an array of skills and a unique spatial perspective.

So, for the better understanding of Geography, the organization conducts following four different activities in a year: –

1. Geo Genius National Geography Olympiad
2. All India National Geography Project Competition
3. Environment Awareness Programmes
4. Participation in the International Geography Olympiad organized by International Geographical Union Olympiad (IGU).

Geo Genius National Geography Olympiad

The students are divided into three different categories for the Geography Olympiad:

● Class 2 to 4 – Sub-Junior Category
● Class 5 to 8 – Junior Category
● Class 9 to 12 – Senior Category

Geo Genius National Geography Olympiad is a three-level competitive examination.

1. Level-I is a preliminary exam which is conducted online throughout India.

2. Fifty meritorious students on the basis of a cut off will be selected from each category for Level-II exam which will also be an
online mode of examination.

3. Outstanding fifteen students from Level II from each category will be eligible to appear for Level III exam which will be
conducted through interactive video conferencing tools.

4. Five winners will be selected from each category.

5. Four winners of the Senior Category would represent India in the International Geography Olympiad of that academic session. (Note: In case of any change for the conduct of International Geography Olympiad due to any unforeseen situation, winners will be informed accordingly. Winners have no right to claim their confirmation for the participation).

Our systematically designed Geography Olympiad model helps the young achievers to enhance their conceptual knowledge and improve their accuracy and speed. It also gives them the opportunity to analyse their own performance and become focused fortheir holistic development.

We seek participation from the schools or the individual students in case they are interested to participate. This will encourage young children and let them believe in their abilities in achieving their dreams and trust their plans.

ELIGIBILITY:

● Students of State Board, ICSE Board, CBSE Board and International Boards.
● Class II to XII only.

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

There are two modes of registration for participation in the Geo Genius National Geography Olympiad as mentioned below: –

a. Offline – through respective schools.

b. Online – individual registration

• Students will be registered through their respective schools. The external exam coordinator is requested to fill the School Registration Form given in this brochure and send it along with the list of names of the students who wish to participate in the Olympiad. The required study material, results, certificates, and awards will be sent to the school. However, the student will take the exam online.

OR

• Students are requested to register themselves through their schools and in case schools are not participating directly, then the student has the option to register online. The registration form for the student who is registering online are given on the home page of our official website www.geogeniusindia.org . (Note: Each student must opt for only one option from the above)
