Introduction to NID - National Institute Of Design

The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, is internationally acclaimed institution in the field of design education and research. NID offers Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) of four years duration for students after 10+2, and the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) of 2 to 2 1/2 years duration for graduates; particularly from architecture, technology, engineering, fine and applied arts, information technology, computer science etc. The overall structure of NID's programme is a combination of theory, skills, design projects, and field experiences supported by cutting edge design studios, skill & innovation labs and the Knowledge Management Centre. Number of seats in the Graduate Diploma Programme is projected to be 75 and for the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme is 200. However, number of seats for each discipline may vary at the time of final selection.

Selction is based on Design Apititude Tests. Shortlisted candidates will be called for studio Tests followed by personal interviews. The NID Admission Committee systematically seeks evidence of the perception, attitude, aptitude, achievement and motivation essential for a challenging and satisfying design career. The objective of the tests and the interviews is to ascertain the above qualities.

The National Institute of Design holds the Design Aptitude Tests to be conducted at 12 centres viz - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, and Mumbai . Admission announcements are made in the leading national dailies in the last week of September every year.
