Scholarship For Higher Education SHE

Scholarship for Higher Education (SRE) aims to enhance rates of Attachment of talented youth to undertake higher education in science intensive programmes by providing scholarships and mentoring through summer attachment to performing researchers. The scheme would offer 10,000 scholarships every year I Rs 0.80 lakh per year for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in natural sciences for the talented youth in the age group of 17-22 years. The main feature of the scheme is in mentor-ship support planned for every scholar as a part of the INSPIRE scholarship.

INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) aims at for enhancement in rate of attachment of talented youth to undertake higher education in science intensive program by providing scholarships and mentoring through summer attachment to performing researchers. The scheme offers Scholarship every year for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in natural and basic sciences for the talented youth in the age group 17-22 years. Two routes are used to enrol students under INSPIRE Scholarship. These are i) Direct Mode: selection on the basis of marks (top 1%) obtained in Central and State board examinations, and ii) Institution Mode: selection from various National Competitive Examinations viz. JEE (Main & Advanced). NEET, NISER, KVPY, NTSE, International Olympiad Medallists and JBNSTS Fellows and pursuing any subject of natural or basic sciences (as per 18 Subjects List) at BSc or Integrated MSc/MS level in any recognised college, university or academic institute in India.

In pursuant to the recommendations of Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) for the continuation of scheme, following modifications has been done in its implementation:

1. The number of scholarships in a given year increased from 10,000 to 12,000.

2. There will be no change in scholarship emoluments per student per year including Mentorship cost.

3. For continuation of INSPIRE Scholarship, the scholar shall (i) pass in all subjects in first attemp, and (ii) secure minimum 60% marks or 7.0 GPA on a 10.0-point scale in annual examinations every year (or 2 semesters).

It will be applicable from academic year 2018-19 starting from June/July 2018 onwards. It is also noted that this will be applicable for all ongoing and fresh scholars pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies at any recognizes colleges/universities/institutes in the country. The scholars are also requested to upload grading to percentage conversion factor/formula along with self-attested mark sheets. In case of non-availability of same, the GPA for that year will be evaluated on 10.0-point scale. 4. Inclusion of 4 subjects at Post-Graduate level only (for MSc enrolment) (i) Ecology (ii) Marine Biology (iii) Genetics (iv) BioPhysics

These guidelines will be applicable to all INSPIRE Scholars, including scholars through Institute mode also.
