Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016 witnesses exhilarating performances by participants - National University of Singapore declared as the International Champions and Amity University from Noidaclinch the National winner title of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016

Mumbai, April 20, 2016: Traversing across 36 cities in India, the 12th edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016, concluded with the National and International Finals held in Mumbai. The National finals was a spectacular show of intellectual quizzing where AbhimanyuBhadauriaand Sreshth Shahfrom Amity University, Noida were crowned as the National Champions.Bhushan Patel and Stanny Davis from SEMCOM, Anand were declared as the runners up of the quiz. The winners and the runners up of the National Finals then joined the top two teams from Singapore in the International Finals.

In a closely contested competition, Rohan Naidu and ShivamBharadwajfrom National University of Singapore were announced as the International Champions.

The grand finale of the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz was divided into three rounds titled ?Off the Mark?, ?Corridor of Uncertainty? and ?Time to Zoot?.This year, the format of the quiz was inspired by that of T20 Cricket and required the contestants to display lightning fast thinking while being quick on the buzzer. The various rounds challenged the participants on their knowledge on the topics related to business and required them to display analytical thinking at every stage. While the audience encouraged and cheered for their favourite teams, ace quizmaster Mr.GiriBalasubramaniam challenged the contestants to a volley of interesting questions.

Over the years, the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz has established itself as one the biggest quizzing competitions in India with its distinctive style of quizzing. The eagerly awaited quiz has attracted some of the sharpest young minds across the country. One of the highlights of this year?s edition was the phenomenal response seen at the two new cities Udaipur and Mysore, where the quiz was held for the first time and the team from Udaipur making it to the National Finals. With business being recognised as one of the important components across all streams, the quiz has moved beyond B-schools and engineering colleges and has seen participation from lawyers, art students, doctors etc.

The chief guest of the evening, Dr.Nirmalya Kumar, Member Group Executive Council, Tata Sonsfelicitatedthe winning teams. The National Champions were awarded the coveted Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016 trophy and a prize money of Rs5,00,000*. As a special prize this year, TIAGO,*the new zippy car from Tata Motors, was also awarded to each member of the national winning team.

Congratulating the winners on their brilliant performance, Dr.Nirmalya Kumar, Member ? Group Executive Council, Tata Sonssaid, ?Today, I have witnessed the excitement, passion and ability of these young kids who have reached this stage of the competition. They are the best of the best and have shown curiosity, sheer dedication and ability and the large amount of effort they have put in to be in the game. It is these qualities that we love in the business world and they have shown the desire to learn which is necessary to remain continuously relevant in the world. It is good to see people from different universities come and rise because you can have people who are good at any university across the country irrespective of categories.

On winning the National Finals at Mumbai, AbhimanyuBhadauria from Amity University (Noida) said, ?I am overwhelmed and this feeling is surreal. This year was dreamlike and I am beyond my wits.?

Seconding his teammate Sreshth Shah added, ?This is a dream come true. I have been hoping to do this well for a few years, and I can only thank the Tatas and my partner for the quiz.

Clinching the international title,Rohan Naidu from National University of Singaporeexpressed his excitement by saying, I am currently at Yale University on an exchange program and it was the Tata group, which was kind enough to fly me over from New York. This platform is getting people like us together, putting us on one stage and keeping the competitive spirit up, and rewarding us for our knowledge.

His teammate ShivamBharadwaj added, Tata Crucible was my first ever quiz competition where I lost the very first game and after that I always dreamt of winning the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz. Finally it feels good to be a part of Internationals. I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life.

The teams competing for the championship at the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016 consisted of the top two teams from each of the four zones. They were:

Zone 1 JeydevC Sand Parth Singh from National Law School Bangalore and Syed Mustafa Hashmi and Syed MurtuzaHashmi from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad

Zone 2 Sresth Shah and AbhimanyuBhadauria from Amity University Noida and MukundMarodia and Mayukh Nair from Ashoka University, Gurgaon

Zone 3 NishantNiharand WasimSajjad from NIT Rourkela and VirajBake and VishwajeetSingh from IIFT Kolkata

Zone 4 Sanjay Krishna and RajendraDangwal from NLU Jodhpur and Bhushan Patel and Stanny Davis from SEMCOM, Anand

Participating teams of the International Finals were Rohan Naidu and ShivamBharadwaj from National University of Singapore, Tejasvin Samarth and MudithKedia from National University of Singapore, AbhimanyuBhadauria and Sreshth Shahfrom Amity University, Noida and Bhushan Patel and Stanny Davis from SEMCOM, Anand.

The national final was a close fight between Amity University, Noida, IIFT Kolkata and SEMCOM Anand. In the penultimate round, Amity University, Noida secured their lead but the battle for the second spot was intense with SEMCOM turning around the tables at the last moment to defeat defending champions IIFT, Kolkata to secure their place as the national runners up. Both the debut teams from Udaipur and Mysore showcased their acumen at the national forum of quizzing.
