The University offers facilities for post-graduate and research studies in major disciplines in Sciences (including Medical Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Technology), Humanities, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Communication and Management Studies. Admissions are made on ail-India basis in order of merit in the entrance examination The University offers boarding / boarding cum lodging allowances / fellowships to all the students admitted to any of its regular program of study.

The entrance examinations for admission to various courses during 2009-10 will be held from 1" to7'h June, 2009 at Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Dharwad, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Raipur, Srinagar, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The University reserves the right to cancel any of the examination centres and allot another nearer centre for applicants of the centre cancelled.

Courses offered by the University during 2009-10: 5 - Year Integrated Master's Degree (I.M.Sc. & I.M.A. (Courses (after +2 education) (10 semesters:

I.M.Sc. in Sciences (Mathematical Sciences/Physics/Chemical Sciences/Systems Biology), Optometry & Vision Sciences, Nursing Sciences, and Health Psychology; I.M.A. in Humanities - Languages (Hindi/Telugu/Urdu), and Language Sciences; I.M.A. in Social Sciences; 2-Year PG Courses (4 semesters) (after 10+2+3 education) (4 semesters): M.Sc. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics-O.R., Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Plant Biology & Biotechnology, Molecular Microbiology and Animal Biotechnology; M.A. in English, Philosophy, Hindi, Functional Hindi (Translation), Telugu, Urdu, Applied Linguistics, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology and Communication; MPA in Dance; MFA in Painting, Print Making and Sculpture; M.B.A. in Health Care and Hospital Management; MPA (6 semesters) in Theatre Arts; M.C.A. (6 semesters); Adv. P.G. / P.G. Diploma courses (2 semesters) in Folk Culture Studies, Mineral Exploration, Counseling Psychology and Health Fitness and Life Style Management; M.Tech courses (4 semesters) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology (CS/AI/IT), Computational Techniques, IC Technology, Medical Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Mineral Exploration and Materials Engineering. Note: 1) There is no written test or interview for admission to M.Tech. (CS/AI/IT), and it is based on the order of merit in the GATE score in Computer Science and Information Technology. 2) Admission to M.Tech IC Technology will be through an interview for the short listed candidates based on the order of merit in the GATE score in Electronics and Communications Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering or Physics (there is no written test); M.Phil courses (2 semesters) in Humanities and Social Sciences; Ph.D. Programmes (2 to 5 years) in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Management Studies and Materials Engineering.

For General & OBC Category : Rs. 400/-

For SC/ST/PH Category : Rs. 150/-

General Information:

Detailed information regarding entrance examinations and qualifications for admissions etc. are given in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2009-10. Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree and expecting their results and certificates before 31" July 2009 are also eligible to apply. Reservation of seats: In each course, 15%, 7.5%, and 27% of the seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC candidates respectively Up to 3% and 5% of the approved intake in each course are reserved for Physically challenged candidates and the wards of the Ex-Serviceman respectively as supernumerary seats. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination is also provided for SC/ST/PH categories.

How to apply:

Prospectus-cum-Application Forms can be obtained in person from 6.4.2009 to 30.4.2009 from the Academic Section, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Administration Building in the University Campus, Hyderabad - 500 046 or from "Golden Threshold" (GT) premises of the University, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabad 500 001", against cash payment. The Prospectus-cum-Application Form/s can also be obtained by ordinary post up to 23.4.2009 from the Dy. Registrar (Acad. & Exams), University of Hyderabad, P.O. Central University, Hyderabad - 500 046 by sending (a) a requisition, (b) one self-addressed adhesive sticker/slip, and (c) a crossed demand draft for the amount specified for the respective category i.e., Rs.450/- in the case of General & OBC Category and Rs 200/- in the case of SC/ST/PH categories for each copy of prospectus-cum-application form which includes Rs. 50/- towards the ordinary postal charges, drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad, on State Bank of India, Hyderabad Cntral University Campus Branch, Hyderabad (Code 5916) or on Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch, Hyderabad (Code 378). The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be downloaded from the University's website (available from 02.4.2009 to 30.4.2009) and duly filled in such application/s must be sent to the Deputy Registrar (Acad & Exams) to the above address enclosing there with a bank draft of Rs.200/- for each course in the case of General & OBC Category and Rs.75/- for each course in the case of SC/ST/PH categories, so as to reach him before 30.4.2009. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Admissions for M.Sc. Biotechnology will be based on the allotment made by the JNU, New Delhi which will conduct a common entrance test. The selection process for admission of MBA has been completed based on the percentile scores of the applicants in CAT 2008 and Group Discussion/Interview. Admission to the 5 - Year Integrated Master of Science courses other than Health Psychology will be through IIT-JEE 2009 for which a separate Admission Announcement is being Issued .
