Communication design refers to using audio and visual elements to attract target audience so that they take the action you would like them to. Communication design encompasses graphic design, animation, communication design, and multimedia, and can be used to create brand awareness, design a cover of a book, advertisements on TV, or even video games.

 

If you are keen on pursuing communication design, here are some career options that await you:

 

1. Print Media Designer

 

A print media designer is in demand by magazines and newspaper. Such a professional is responsible for the layout of the print media so that the design elements grab attention of the reader.

 

As a print media designer, you will have to ensure that the visual appeal of the newspaper, online publication or magazines is enhanced so that it improve readability and makes the content more attractive for prospective readers. However, there are industry standards that you need to adhere to when it comes to layout and typography.

 

2. User Experience or User Interface Designer

 

Today, technology is advancing by leaps and bounds. End users want online content that is interactive, engaging, user-friendly, and easy to navigate. So, before a digital product or property is launched, organisations ensure that they keep user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) at the forefront.

 

A UX designer has to be creative to design an online product that is intuitive and interactive. It requires knowledge of research, technical structure, and testing. In addition, you should be able to create storyboards and models, and work alongside sound engineers to ensure that motion and sound are in total harmony.

 

Places that seek animation and multimedia professionals include advertising agencies, video and film production houses, mobile tech firms, gaming companies, and graphic design studios. You need to have superior video and audio editing skills besides being creative.

 

4. Information Designer

 

Information designers work to make text, facts and figures more attractive to readers and viewers. You will be responsible for taking text, non-visual elements, and graphics and blending them in such a way that the end result is appealing as well as functional.

 

To be a sought-after information designer, you will need to master typography, be able to perform statistical analysis, and have an aesthetic bend of mind. In addition, you should also have thorough understanding of human behaviour to be able to discern how to present boring information in a more attractive manner.
