About Aspire India Scholars Programme AISP

The Aspire India Scholars Programme (AISP) is conducted by the International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd) at JGU. This is a Summer School designed for Indian high school students to guide their transition from high school to higher education. During the two-week intensive residential programme, the students engage in experiential learning about eight interdisciplinary modules through lectures and workshop sessions. They also participate in special innovation and leadership workshops led by the faculty members of various schools at JGU.

During AISP, the students also get an opportunity to listen to the Aspire India Ambassadors – young achievers from diverse fields like social entrepreneurship, sustainability, blockchain and artificial intelligence, digital media and communication etc. These young achievers share their experiences of working in non-traditional fields of work to inspire the AISP scholars to think outside of the box about their future higher education and career.

The second cohort of the AISP Summer School-2018 had 74 students from CBSE, ICSE, State Board and IB schools across a number of Indian cities and towns, including Sonipat, Gangtok, Kolkata, Lucknow, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Alwar, Dehradun, Jammu, Jind, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Chandigarh. Besides interdisciplinary modules and talk series, the students also got exposure to forensic science, 3D printing, aerodynamics and robotics, and foreign languages through different workshops. The summer school also included varied recreational and sports activities, movie screenings, and DJ night. Furthermore, a cultural excursion was organized to ‘Chokhi Dhani’ and an industry field visit was organized to ‘Yakult’ plant.

The third Aspire India Scholars Programme will happen at JGU Campus at Sonipat from June 2-16, 2019. We hope that the new cohort will also have an exciting and memorable two weeks on campus.

Eligibility

For AISP (For Indian students), the students who are currently enrolled in class 9, 10, 11, and 12 in any school in India are eligible to apply.

Aspire India Scholars Programme Application deadline: April 26, 2019
Enrolment deadline: May 17, 2019

Applications received after the priority deadline of April 26, 2019 will be considered on a rolling basis. Hence, we will continue to review applications if any seats are still available.

Note: Only one application per candidate will be accepted for the forthcoming AISP/AIIP. Unsuccessful candidates are welcome to apply again next year.

Programme Duration

The Summer School is a two–week fully residential programme at the O. P. Jindal Global University located in Sonipat, NCR of Delhi.

2 June – 16 June 2019: Aspire India Scholars Programme (For Indian Students)

7 July – 21 July 2019: Aspire India Immersion Programme (For NRI/International Students)

Admission Process

Admission to the programme shall be based on assessment of the applicant’s profile, i.e. academic record, and their response to four questions.

Seats are limited and admission shall be granted based on early application, followed by timely payment of programme fees after completing the enrolment form once the applicant receives an acceptance email from us.
