About e-Raksha Competition

CIET-NCERT in collaboration with Cyber Peace Foundation and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) have launched e-Raksha Competition 2020 for students, teachers and caregivers (parents or guardians).

 

In times of Covid-19 pandemic, virtual classrooms have become the new norm and digital media has become an invaluable tool for the children and youth to continue their learning. Internet has become one of the prime sources of information, collaboration and social interaction across the globe. It is, therefore, the urgent need of the hour to educate the young minds to use the potential of Internet for their learning and growth and become smart and safe.

 

Objective of the scheme

 

* To provide a creative and important outlet to children and young people who are currently confined at home due to Covid-19 pandemic, to reflect and share about being safe and responsible on the Internet.

 

* To inculcate Digital Citizenship and Online Safety especially when students are spending much of their time in the digital Space for learning and social activities.

 

e-Raksha 2020 Competition Details

 

 Who can participate?

The eRaksha Competition 2020 invites participation across multiple levels in the ecosystem:

 

* Students from all types of schools and education systems (formal / informal)

 

* Youth from communities and colleges/universities across all the disciplines (private, aided, government)

 

* In-service teachers and faculty from school and colleges

 

* Pre-service (student-teachers) from DIETs and Colleges of Education

 

* Caregivers (parents, guardians, community helpers)

 

There is no registration fee for the competition and entries can be submitted in either Hindi or English only

 

 Goals of eRaksha 2020 Competition:

 

a. Educate & empower children and youth to:

* Use the potential of Internet positively for enhancing their learning
* Critically assess, verify and smartly respond to the fake news and misinformation especially with regard to Covid-19
* Make conscious, smart and informed decisions
* Create awareness about digital rights and responsibilities
* Be safe & responsible Digital Citizens
b. Sensitize teachers, parents and caregivers to mentor and monitor their student/children’s online behaviour. Also empowering them to provide guidance and support when needed.

C. Competitions: Participants will be encouraged to think creatively what online safety and digital citizenship means to them and share their ideas through any one of the following:

a. Wordhack (articles, stories, blogs, essays)
b. Artcade (painting, poster, sticker, sketch)
c. Short self-created Videos
d. Tech Avishkar (innovative Tech Programs using latest tools and techniques).

 

Timelines:

 

Registration 30th June – 30th Sept 2020
Announcement of Results – 11th November

 

How to participate

 

Participants will have to register online on the eRaksha Portal – https://www.eraksha.net. Once registration is done successfully, they will receive their Unique IDs. Using this ID they can submit their digital copy of their submission on the eRaksha Portal. Participants are requested to read the guidelines for submission on the portal and upload the digital entry in the format as detailed.
