About Geo Genius National Geography Project Competition 2022
“Project Leads to Active Participation and Greater Learning.”
Keeping up with our mission to develop interest in geography and to stimulate the competitive spirit amongst the students we are coming up with our 2nd Geo Genius National Geography Project Competition 2022. The details of the same are as follows :
Sub Junior Category (Class 2,3 and 4)
Topic: Real-World Testing of Biodegradability
Vocabulary: Biodegradable- something that breaks down naturally and turns into soil.
Here are the rules:
1. Conduct an experiment that establishes what materials really are biodegradable.
2. Bury a range of objects (an apple core, leaves, and plastic packaging) underneath the ground and leave them for a month.
3. After a month dig down to see what has broken down and what has not.
4. Write your experience in about 500 words discussing following questions –
*Did you find all the pieces of trash?
*Which pieces were gone or almost all gone?
*Which pieces of trash were still there?
* How can we change what we do with packaging and trash to make things better for the Earth?
5. Your report should be hand written and supplemented with photographs while performing the activity.
6. Maintain originality, show your intend and initiative while doing the activity.
7. Write the concluding remarks consisting of your take away or learning you received while doing this project.
8. Make your project in PDF format and send before 15th June 2022 at project.geogeniusindia@gmail.com.
9.Attach a copy of your Aadhar Card to authenticate your age.
Junior Category (Class 5,6,7 and 8)
Topic : A Case study on the types of soil in your area
1. The project should be handwritten and in not more than 800 words and not less than 400 words.
2. Divide your project into three sections
A. Brief introduction.
B. Detailed research or analysis of the topic.
C. Concluding remarks consisting of your take away or learning you received while doing this project.
3. Maintain originality, show your intend and initiative while doing the project study.
4. Collect only the relevant information.
5. Plan a geographical field work and prepare the report based on your own observations.
6. If you use sources like textbooks, articles, magazines, web pages and blogs try to put the information in your own words.
7. Remember that your information should be examined in the light of the geographer’s question- Why it is there? How did it occur?
8. Supplement your report with potential maps and photographs of the geographical information.
9. Write the conclusions.
10. Make your project in PDF format and send before 15th June 2022 at project.geogeniusindia@gmail.com.
11.Attach a copy of your Aadhar Card to authenticate your age.
Senior Category (Class 9, 10, 11 & 12)
Topic: Glaciers. Are they melting down too fast?
Glaciers have long captured the interest of scientist, but their value as indicators of climate change have come to the fore front of contemporary scientific research. Scientists calculated ice melt from every single glacier on Earth, from the Andes to the Himalayas to Alaska.
Here are the rules:
1. The project should be handwritten and in not more than 800 words and not less than 400 words.
2. Divide your project into three sections
A. Brief introduction.
B. Detailed research or analysis of the topic.
C. Concluding remarks consisting of your take away or learning you received while doing this project.
3. Maintain originality, show your intend and initiative while doing the project study.
4. Collect only the relevant facts supported by pictures and satellite images.
5. If you use sources like textbooks, articles, magazines, web pages and blogs try to put the information in your own words.
