About Suggest a Slogan for New India Literacy Programme
Education is the driving force for the development of any nation. Every literate citizen is an asset to the country. Even in the 21st century, with the advent of digital technology in every field of life, India has a big number of the population who are not literate. To give these citizens aged above 15 years who were left behind to access education, the Government of India has launched ‘The New India Literacy Programme’ (NILP) or the Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram, from 2022 to 2027, aiming to make India fully literate.
The Programme will be mainly based on teaching through volunteerism in an online or digital mode. The learners and volunteers will be registered online on the mobile app made for the scheme. The content for teaching and learning in local languages will be available on the DIKSHA portal of NCERT through the mobile app. After gaining Foundational Literacy and numeracy along with critical life skills, the learners will be accorded a certificate after an assessment test.
NILP is a public participation programme and perceives volunteers’ participation in this nation-building exercise. These volunteers can be anybody, like students/children, teachers, homemakers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, NYSK, NSS, NCC volunteers, philanthropic organizations etc., to actualize the dream of ‘Education for All’. The Corporates can plan corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to implement NILP.
The objectives of the scheme are to impart not only Foundational Literacy and Numeracy but also to cover other components which are necessary for a citizen of the 21st century, such as Critical Life Skills (including financial literacy, digital literacy, commercial skills, health care and awareness, child care and education, and family welfare); Vocational Skills Development (with a view towards obtaining local employment); Basic Education (including preparatory, middle, and secondary stage equivalency) and Continuing Education (including engaging holistic adult education courses in arts, sciences, technology, culture, sports, and recreation, as well as other topics of interest or use to local learners, such as more advanced material on critical life skills).
The programme strives to empower all individuals with basic education skills so that they not only change their own lives but also change society in a productive manner. This will also enhance the confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance of the neo-learners.
Ministry of Education, Department of School Education and Literacy, and MyGov invite citizens to suggest simple tagline for New India Literacy Programme, that will motivate learners and volunteers to benefit from the scheme.
