Both are full-time programmes affiliated to jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi commencing on August 01,2005 . Programme details are available in the CDS website

Admission Eligibility

MPhil Programme : Master’s in Economics with 50% marks or in other Social Science / Humanities subjects with 55% or in Science subjects with 60% Professionals with Bachelor’s degree in technology, medical sciences and legal studies are also encouraged.

PhD Programme :

(i) Master’s in Economics with 50% marks or in related disciplines in development studies with 55% marks and

(ii) M Phil with FGPA of 6 on a 10-point scale or Qualifying the NET of UGC/ICAR. The MPhil requirement can be waived for those with research experience and good calibre publications and/or PG level teaching experience and those who have qualified for UGC JRF in relavant disciplines. University / colleges teachers will be considered for salary protected fellowship scheme of the the ICSSR.

FELLOWSHIPS

* MPhil : Rs.3000 per month

* PhD : Rs.6000 per month (ICSSR & other schemes)

UGC JRF can be availed for both the Programmes.

* Journalism Education Trust Fellowship for Journalists and post graduates in Journalism to undergo MPhil ; journalists can also opt for the two-semester course-work only.
