INTRODUCTION

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India took a policy decision in 2002 to conduct anAll India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) annually, doing away with many of the large number of entrance examinations that were being conducted till then by various institutes in the country for admission to undergraduate degree programmes in the disciplines of Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning. This initiative has been widely accepted and appreciated.

A Central Counselling Board (CCB) constituted by the Govt. of India coordinated admissions to UG degree programmes in engineering, technology and architecture in respect of selected institutes till 2012. From 2013 onwards, CCB and AIEEE have been renamed as Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and JEE (Mains) respectively. The CSAB for 2017 has been constituted with Director, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, as its Chairman as per the Office Memorandum of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India that is placed at the OFFICE MEMORANDUM Link.

By the order of Ministry of HRD, there will be joint counselling for IITs/NITs/IIITs/GFTIs for the academic session 2017-18. Hence, for 31 NITs, 20 IIITs, and 18 other Government Funded Institutes (GFTIs) (list displayed on website josaa.nic.in), JOSAA will admit candidates on the basis of their rank in JEE (Main)-2017 and category to the first year of Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning Programs through a centralized seat allocation procedure, for the academic session 2017-18.

Based on the rank of JEE (mains), admissions will also be made to the first year of Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning Programs in some Self Financed Technical Institutes (SFTIs), supernumerary seats in NITs for Union Territories, and in some AICTE approved Institutes for North East and Union Territories (NEUT) through this centralized seat allocation procedure.

Important features of the admission procedure, fee refund rules, admission schedule, list of Reporting/Help Centers, list of Participating Institutes with total number of seats, fee structure and contact addresses, seat distribution in the Institutes etc., are given in information brochure. Candidates are advised to read information brochure carefully and visit CSAB website regularly for updates and for details regarding the entire online admission process as no postal communication will be used.

In case of any dispute arising out of the seat allocation process at any stage up to the final allocation of institute and/or branch, the decision of Chairman, CSAB-2017 shall be final and binding. The jurisdiction for legal disputes, if any, will be limited to the courts at Jaipur only.

For smooth functioning of admission procedure resulting in maximum number of candidates getting admission to the course and institute of their choice and minimizing the number of vacant seats, it is advised that the candidates should carefully follow the admission procedure given in information brochure (that will be released soon on this website). The procedure offers enough flexibility at every round of allotment and candidates are urged to co-operate by not prolonging their final decision on admission after seat allotment. This will facilitate in catering to the needs of larger number of candidates seeking admission through CSAB-2017.
