About the Conference

The Department of Architecture and Planning along with ITPI is organizing a two-day National conference as a part of VNIT’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration. The theme of the conference is Emerging Challenges, Opportunities & Innovations in Urban Planning and Design. The keynote talks, technical sessions and panel discussions are oriented towards holistic contributions of Urban Planning and Design towards the society. The conference aims to create a forum to present and exchange new ideas by students, researchers, academicans and professionals across the nation working in the frontier domains of Urban Planning and Design. All are invited to submit original manuscripts.
Awards will be given for best papers under various categories.

Call for papers

Rapid pace of urbanisation, apart from offering opportunities to improve quality of life, also poses many challenges for human development. Rapid urbanization is also linked to environmental concerns, socio-economic disparities and vulnerability to natural disasters. However, no universal strategy can be adopted for addressing these concerns owing to the specific nature of urban areas. Attempts have been made by various professionals in the respective fields to address these concerns and issues. Piecemeal approach happens to be a barrier in addressing these concerns comprehensively, adversely affecting the quality of life. Therefore, there is a need for various professionals to come together on a common platform and address these issues in a coordinated way. This conference provides a leading forum for discussing opportunities and innovations in Urban Planning and Design to address the emerging challenges. The conference will bring together leading professionals, researchers and students.

Above themes are indicative/suggestive. Papers outside these themes but pertaining to other concerns of emerging challenges and opportunities of urbanization may also be submitted.

Guidelines for Authors

Authors need to strictly follow the format for presentation of the manuscript. Authors can download MS Word template and sample paper for reference from the conference website. The abstracts and manuscripts shall be submitted through email to ecoi2020vnit@gmail.com. The submitted manuscripts will be peerreviewed and scrutinized for plagiarism as a mandatory requirement for publication. The papers accepted after peer-review will be published in conference proceedings. The organizing committee will take efforts for indexing the conference proceedings in Scopus.

On a paid basis, single/double occupancy limited accommodation is available in the guest house and hostel of the institute. The participants can book it in advance, before due date by sending request email. Good hotels are available nearby VNIT campus and can be directly booked as per the requirement.
