ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAM WALK- IN INTERVIEW ON MAY 29th, 2017 (MONDAY)

Director. Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), invites exceptionally motivated candidates to appear for a walk-in interview on May 29″1,2017 (Monday), (Reporting time 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon) for pursuing doctoral research at IMTECH under the aegis of the Ph.D. degree program being jointly run by IMTECH and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The candidates who have passed M.Sc. with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% marks in case of SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates) and have any of the valid fellowship from CSIR-UGC NET (NET-LS not eligible)/DBT-JRF examination (‘A’ Category only)/DST INSPIRE Fellowship/ICMR-JRF examination (those selected for working only in ICMR Projects are not eligible) are eligible to attend the i nterview. Kindly note that those candidates who are waiting for M.Sc. results may also appear for interview but theirjoining is subject to clearing all the eligibility criteria. Age limit: Minimum 19 years & maximum 23 years (upper age relaxation is applicable as per Govt, of India rules). There will be two rounds of interview. The first round will be aimed at assessing the candidate’s ability for comprehension, critical analysis and logical reasoning and aptitude for scientific research. Shortlisted candidates in the first round of interview will appear for the second round of interview on 30h May 2017. In the second round of interview, the candidates should be ready to make a short 10 minute presentation based on their research proposal that they have to submit at the time of application. The result of the selected candidates will be declared on 31 May, 2017. Those who are selected will be required to pay Rs.3000/- (non-refundable) towards admission fee which will be immediately done after selection. All the selected candidates will be joining CSIR-IMTECH on 3 July, 2017 for their Pre-PhD course work which will run for about six months. Those who successfully clear the Pre-PhD exam will be assigned labs after their interaction with faculty.

IMTECH is a multidisciplinary institute with excellent research facilities and faculty with interests in many different areas of modem biology and biotechnology (please visit our website: http://www.imtech.res.in for information on different areas and faculty activities). Those coming for interview must be prepared to stay in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission of successful candidates. No TA/DAor any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview. The decision of the Director, IMTECH regarding selection/admission of the candidates shall be final.
