About Daksha Fellowship 2020
The Daksha Fellowship
Daksha is the first law fellowship in India to offer sector-specific specializations. Students can opt to specialize in:
Technology Law and Policy: In addition to general courses like data protection, cybercrimes and intellectual property law, this pathway will provide sectoral exposure to areas like telecommunications, financial technologies and social media.
Law and Regulation: This pathway will provide a conceptual understanding of regulation and sectoral insights on key regulatory domains like energy and infrastructure, food and the green economy.
Disputes Resolution: This pathway will provide a comprehensive and conceptual understanding of emerging areas in dispute resolution such as arbitration, mediation and conciliation.
Daksha, meaning abilities and skills, is the philosophy that permeates every activity at the Fellowship. The skill enhancement component of the fellowship program prepares all candidates to become well-rounded and holistic individuals.
Work and Well-being Lab: A unique personality-oriented lab that focuses on equipping students to successfully manage, thrive and belong in the world of work.
Communication Lab: A speech, writing and presentation skills laboratory that will train students to convey their ideas clearly in legal, business and policy settings.
Bootcamps: These will be organized during the program to ensure cutting-edge, high-impact training in relevant legal, policy and skills areas. They will be hosted by industry practitioners and think-tanks.
Global Immersion: Students will visit one of our partner universities for a one-week period to understand legal, governmental and policy challenges within a foreign jurisdiction.
All Daksha Fellows will undertake a mandatory six- to ten-week internship with law firms, corporate organizations, think tanks, and not-for-profits. Every individual will be mentored by a dedicated career development team. Upon graduation, students will be equipped to pursue a successful career in:
* Advisory and regulatory practise;
* Technology law and policy consulting;
* Litigation and dispute resolution;
* More general roles that demand an interdisciplinary outlook
The Daksha Fellowship aims to select candidates who meet the following requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized Indian institution, or a degree considered equivalent to the LL.B. program (integrated or non-integrated) from an international university. Students pursuing their final year of law and are expected to graduate before the program start date can also apply
* Exemplary record of academic and extracurricular achievements
* Strong written and communication skills
* Scores from one of the entrance exams – Daksha Fellowship Admissions Test, CLAT PG or LSAT-India
