Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications for a postdoctoral position from motivated individuals interested in “hot QCD matter in the influence of background electromagnetic fields”. The appointment will be for twelve months (one year).

Eligibility and expectations:

Candidates with a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree/ those who have recently submitted their Ph.D. thesis in Theoretical High Energy Physics with a specialization in the areas related to hot QCD matter, may apply for the said position. Candidates with excellent academic record and a proven track record in research in the area related to finite temperature field theory approach to hot QCD medium and a good hold on kinetic theory modeling of hot QCD with a focus on heavy quark dynamics are particularly encouraged to apply.

The candidate will work in collaboration with Prof. Vinod Chandra (https://iitgn.ac.in/faculty/phy/fac-vinod) in the Physics discipline at IIT Gandhinagar. The work will be primarily on understanding the hot QCD matter in the background space-time dependent Electromagnetic fields with a particular emphasis on heavy-quark dynamics in hot QCD medium.

In particular, the focus of the work will be on developing a comprehensive theoretical understanding of the said topics along with establishing connections to the experimental observations. The candidate is expected to work in close collaboration with Prof. Santosh Kumar Das’s group (http://www.iitgoa.ac.in/faculty_page.php?id=84) from IIT Goa. The candidate is expected to contribute to various teaching and academic activities of the discipline and the Institute.

Terms and conditions of the employment:

• Employment duration: 12 months (One year)

• Place of the work: Physics Discipline, IIT Gandhinagar

• Monthly emoluments: Rs. 50, 000/- (Fifty Thousand)

• The successful candidate is encouraged to apply for the external funding such as SERB- NPDF etc. during the tenure of the postdoctoral fellowship
