About K.N. Raj Training and Fellowship Programme
K.N. Raj Training and Fellowship Programme aims to improve the curriculum and teaching of Economics in Colleges and University Departments across India, especially Kerala. This is in response to a felt need to improve the quality of economics education at the undergraduate and graduate level. Towards this goal a month long training programme for college and university teachers preferably working in Kerala would be organised at CDS premises. The programme would also award a fellowship for one month, for select participants based on their performance in the training programme. The focus of the course would be to strengthen the fundamentals of economics education, by providing intensive week long training on specific basic courses. CDS has a rich history of running such programmes successfully in the past. The Teaching Innovations Programme for College Teachers in Economics (TIPE) was conducted during the period 2006 to 2011 and the feedback had been very encouraging. The experience of the programme encourages us to take this forward.
K.N. Raj Endowment Fund: Professor K.N. Raj, the founding father of CDS, was a builder of institutions and a visionary who strived to improve the quality of teaching and research in economics in Kerala and elsewhere in the country. In order to commemorate his life and contributions to the larger community, CDS is privileged to have launched a series of fellowship and training schemes on the basis of a generous grant made available to it by the Kerala State Government.
