APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING BASIC SCIENCE COURSES AND CAREER IN RESEARCH

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs. 5,000/- to Rs.7,000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in 1st year program in basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. Selection to the program considers the academic excellence to take up research career in Basic Sciences.

Eligibility for Stream SA: Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed X Standard Board Examination and eligible to enroll in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of XI class once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2023-24 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science Camp (Vijyoshi) and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY .

Eligibility for Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021–22 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) during the academic year 2022–23. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard Board Examination

Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2021–22 are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of 1st year B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate program in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in 1 st year of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.

Empowerment initiative in the KVPY Fellowship Program:

I For students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe:- A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams as stated above will be operated.

II For Persons With Disabilities:- A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated for deserving Persons With DisabilitiesPhysically and Visually challenged students

GENERAL INFORMATION:

• Applications are invited from Indian Nationals. However, as per the interim order (Final Order awaited) of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka OCI/PIO Students will be allowed to write the KVPY Aptitude Test 2021.

• The KVPY fellowship is available to the students who have enrolled as a regular student of UG Program in Basic Science course in any College/Institution of a University recognized in India.

• An extended merit list of approximately 5,000 candidates will be prepared in addition to the list of KVPY fellows. Rank certificates will be available to the candidates in the extended list. However, the candidates in the extended list are not eligible for KVPY fellowship.

• Students may apply Online at http://www.kvpy.iisc.ac.in by clearly indicating the stream (i.e., SA/SX/SB).

• APPLICATION FEE: For General category Rs. 1,250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) and Rs. 625/- (Rupees six hundred twenty five only) for Students belonging to SC/ST/Persons With Disabilities. Application fee once paid will not be refunded.

• KVPY reserves the right to postpone the aptitude test due to any reason, including the prevailing situation arising from the COVID19 pandemic.

• A computer based online version of the aptitude Test will be conducted at the selected cities.

Last date for closing of online Application : 25th August 2021

KVPY Aptitude Test : 7th November 2021

• Caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma in the case of students belonging to SC/ST.
• Medical certificate from the prescribed authority (GOI) in the case of physically and visually challenged students certifying the percentage of disability.
• Scanned photo & signature.
