IIT BOMBAY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP SCHEME

The IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme aims to attract students of proven academic caliber towards research activities at IIT Bombay. The awardees are expected to work on research projects and may also pursue academic degrees of the Institute subject to normal requirements.

The number of fellowships to be awarded for the scheme will be up to 100. The awardees are expected to work in the different Departments/Schools/Centres/IDPC’s based on their academic backgrounds. The awardees will be working in the research projects under the mentorship of faculty members/scientists during the summer and on completion of their degrees they may be absorbed in the department for working in a sponsored R&D projects for a duration of the project which could be for a period of 2 – 5 years.

Fellowship

1. Rs.8,000 – Rs.10,000 p.m. ( for the awardees with B.Tech or MA / M.Sc., / M.Com. / MBA qualification )

2. Rs.12,000 – Rs.15,000 p.m. ( for M.Tech with some experience )

The other benefits may include funding for participation in national / international conferences, a long term membership to our Institute library for reference purposes, grant to interact with a collaborator group abroad etc.

Eligibility

1. The fellowship scheme is open to students of III year B.Tech / II year M.A. Msc., / M.Com / MBA or equivalent degree in various colleges across the country ( including IIT’s )

2. M.Tech degree holders with experience in teaching or industry.

3. The awarded students are expected to work during the summer in IIT Bombay and they will be paid a nominal stipend of Rs.3,000/p.m.
