About The Program

Malabar Scholarship for girl students is a targeted initiative started in 2007 designed to enhance access, retention, and academic progression of girl students in government academic institutions, particularly those from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. The scheme provides financial assistance to support educational needs, reduce dropout rates, and ensure continuity in studies. The program aims to empower girls with confidence, self-respect, and independence. Till date we have provided scholarships to 1.45 Lakh girls students across 18 States and 3 UT spent over 103 Crore.

Objectives

* To alleviate the financial burden of girl students from government schools and their families by providing financial assistance towards education-related expenses, such as tuition fees, books, and study materials.

* To empower young women to become confident, self-reliant, and self-sufficient individuals who can make informed decisions about their lives.

* To recognize and support the academic achievements of talented and meritorious girl students from government schools, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their studies.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be granted to eligible candidates based on the following criteria, subject to fund availability:

* Female students who are presently pursuing higher education in Higher Secondary level in government schools located in selected Indian states.

* Applicants must have successfully completed the 10th grade with a minimum of 50% marks.

* Preference will be given to students with the highest marks and the lowest family income.

* Students must be enrolled in a full-time, regular academic program. Distance and correspondence students are not eligible to apply.

Important Dates

The scholarship application period typically opens in the first week of July and closes on August 31st each year. However, the duration may vary based on local circumstances. For further clarification, please contact your nearest MGD showroom.
