INTRODUCTION:

Chemical Engineering is a broad discipline dealing with processes (industrial and natural) involving the transformation (chemical, biological, or physical) of matter or energy into forms useful for mankind, economically and without compromising environment, safety, or finite resources.

Since energy is one of the key ingredients of improving life styles of peoples, its consumption will dramatically accelerate and increase due to industrial, economic and social development. The optimal use of energy resources and their efficient deployment will require that our environment is preserved. Therefore environmental concerns are to be integrated with the energy resource planning and policy formations. The workshop covers an overview of hazardous waste scenario and energy management– Global and Indian, legislative and regulatory trends and impact, characterization and identification of hazardous wastes, authorization procedures, fate and transport of hazardous contaminants, reprocessing and recycling of hazardous waste, evaluation of risks and other recent developments in handling and processing of hazardous waste. This workshop provides a common platform to discuss advanced research activities carried out in chemical engineering and related areas.
