Scholarships offered by the Government of Republic of Slovenia to Indian Nationals under bilateral agreement for the Academic Year 2026-2027

The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in New Delhi is announcing scholarships for the academic year 2023/2024. The scholarships scheme is for University/College students or graduates and Ph.D. applicants who wish to accomplish a part of their study at one of the Slovenian Higher Education Institutions.

Details of scholarship are as under:

* For India, a total of 24 scholarship months is available

* The scheme is designed for University/College students or graduates and Ph.D. applicants who wish to accomplish part of their study at one of the Slovenian Higher Education Institutions

* The scholarship duration ranges from 3 months upwards to 10 months.

* The scholarship cannot be awarded for a complete course of study leading to a degree

* Tuition fee is not covered under this scholarship

* Majority of selected awardees are admitted for a short time study stay or research visits by doctoral students/candidates (i.e. they either attend non-degree courses of their choice, or pursue an independent research activity at the host institution).

* Applicants must contact a Slovenian Institution of their choice directly and request a letter of acceptance from the relevant department.

* Age limit for applicants of study stays is 26 years (the applicant may not complete 26 years of age before the end of the scholarship period) and 30 years for research visit.

* Applicants for study stays should be proficient in the Slovene language, unless the working language is agreed upon with the mentor/supervisor.

* Applicants must submit a dossier to the national nominating agency which shall include 2 copies the following documents:

Fully filled application form

– Letter of acceptance from a Slovenian Institute of Higher Education

– Photocopy of ID card or passport (page with photograph)

– One letter of recommendation for study stays and two letters of recommendation for research stay from the applicant’s home institution in India

– Photocopy of diploma and/or certified transcript(s) of records

* Scholarship comprises of:

– 360 Euros per month

– Free accommodation in the facilities of the Student centre of the Slovenian University

– Subsidised meals: 2.82 Euros per working day

– Basic medical insurance for non-EU applicants

NOMINATION CRITERIA:

A. Applicants who can provide proof of receiving Letter of acceptance from a Slovenian Institute of Higher Education shall be considered for nomination.

Among the candidates satisfying criteria A above, points based on the following parameters will be awarded to each candidate, which will be used for further short listing for nomination from India.

Points based on the following parameters will be awarded to candidates, which will be used for further shortlisting for nomination from India:

i. Candidates who demonstration a real capacity to make a difference to home country:

* Will return to India on completion of course and work in India for at least 2 years: 4 points
* Undecided/no: 0 points

ii. Candidate is from a disadvantaged background or to promote diversity:

* ST/ SC/ NC-OBC/ PwD/ EWS: 4 points
* Female/ Transgender: 2 points
* Others: 0 points

EWS: Annual family income Rs. 4.5 Lakh or below, which is same as the income criteria for the PM – USP Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students.

(iii) Academic merit:

* QS Ranking 10 on below: 4 points
* QS Ranking 10-20: 2 points
* QS Ranking 20-50: 1 point
* QS Ranking above 50: 0 points

Note: overall ranking/ subject ranking as per latest ranking year will be considered

Cumulative points total calculated based on above parameters would be used to decide nominations. In case of points tie between 2 candidates, it is proposed that the candidate who scores higher on parameter (ii) be nominated. If there is still a tie, then that student would be nominated who has scored higher marks in last qualifying examination.

Students must apply online on SAKSHAT Portal (https://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship). Applications can be submitted from 17 February 2023 to 08 March 2023 (16:00 Hrs). Along with applying online, dossier must also be sent addressed to “The Undersecretary (Scholarships), Ministry of Education, West Block -1, Wing – 6, 2nd Floor, R.K. Puram, New Delhi – 110066. Dossier (as mentioned at para 2 above) must be marked as “Slovenian Government Scholarship 2023/2024 Application”.
