The Embassy of France in partnership with TERI is organizing a Webinar Series – Multi-Country Industry Dialogue: Towards low carbon cooling access – delivering high-level roundtable discussions among key cooling stakeholders from India and France aiming to facilitate multi-country cooling stakeholders’ dialogue.

India’s tropical climate coupled with global warming has rendered access to cooling for all a necessity, bringing to the surface the challenge posed for the vulnerable and economically disadvantaged people. The global pandemic offers through the recovery plans a new opportunity to provide an integrated response & effective and equitable strategies to build back better. Internationally, countries committed to working together to encourage implementation of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on the reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and promote improved energy efficiency standards in the cooling sector, supporting notably the “Biarritz Pledge for Fast Action on Efficient Cooling”. Innovative solutions like super-efficient technology using low-GWP refrigerants and non-refrigerant based cooling technologies customized to specific country market conditions (cost-competitive at affordable pricing) can be achieved through technological and policy innovation. The key is to build more industry coalitions to accelerate the adoption of low-GWP & super-efficient technology through sharing the best practices, experience and innovation.

With this objective, the Embassy of France in partnership with TERI is organizing a Webinar Series – Multi-Country Industry Dialogue: Towards low carbon cooling access – delivering high-level roundtable discussions among key cooling stakeholders from India and France aiming to facilitate multi-country cooling stakeholders’ dialogue. The Webinar Series under SHEETAL initiative to facilitate the implementation of ICAP consists of two events with stakeholder discussions that focus on facilitating an international cooling forum promoting knowledge exchange in the cooling sector including comfortable habitat, energy-efficiency in buildings, robust cold-chain infrastructure, etc.

Current situations led by Covid-19 Pandemic highlights the need to shift focus from reactive to proactive approach towards sustainable urban planning and habitat. As countries intend the accelerated economic recovery that enables business as usual while preventing climate breakdown, facing the lockdowns and spending more time inside by people reveals sustainable buildings as one of the necessities of our livelihood. Taking these notes, the discussion will deliberate on the aspects of opportunities for sustainable building design, clean cooling technology interventions, facilitating cross-country learnings to achieve sustainable cooling targets.
