IIM 17th Conference of the Academy of Global Business Research and Practice

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore 17th Conference of the Academy of Global Business Research and Practice

About the College

The Academy of Global Business Research & Practice (AGBRP), formerly known as the Society for Global Business & Economic Development (SGBED) is a non-profit organization based in the USA.

The specific purposes of AGBRP are:

  • To establish a forum for promotion of scholarship and dissemination of ideas on theory and practice in a global business context;
  • To foster research and peer-reviewed publications by organizing conferences, symposiums, and workshops;
  • To collaborate with business and industry and entrepreneurs and explore ideas to generate research and scholarship that would narrow the gap between theory and practice;
  • To organize a network of educators, scholars and professionals and generate opportunities for training and mentoring of entrepreneurship in developing countries.

Nature and Scope of the Conference

The current business environment is largely shaped by multilateral institutions, MNEs, technology, capital markets, and entrepreneurship. While globalization had a positive impact on developing countries, developed nations have experienced the loss of manufacturing and stagnation of wages and this phenomenon is generally attributed to sourcing from low-cost locations. Hence, policymakers and governments have raised doubts about the relevance of multilateralism and globalization. Recent developments, including the BREXIT, “Make America Great Again” slogan, USA-China tariff war, “Make in India” policy, etc. highlight the trend towards domestic priorities. Though such priorities are critical but very difficult to accomplish without international cooperation. Hence, it is imperative for governments and businesses to balance domestic priorities and global obligations to maximize the common good. In this context, the 17th Academy of Global Business Research and Practice (AGBRP) Conference invites theoretical and applied research papers, extended abstracts, case studies, and panel sessions to address a range of issues organized around the following tracks, but not limited to:

  • Public Policies, Domestic & Global Obligations:  BREXIT & the EU, Protectionism, Trade Wars, Trade Agreements & Regional Cooperation, Shared Governance of Institutions, Labor & Immigration Issues;
