Nature and Scope of the Conference

The current business environment is largely shaped by multilateral institutions, MNEs, technology, capital markets, and entrepreneurship. While globalization had a positive impact on developing countries, developed nations have experienced the loss of manufacturing and stagnation of wages and this phenomenon is generally attributed to sourcing from low-cost locations. Hence, policymakers and governments have raised doubts about the relevance of multilateralism and globalization. Recent developments, including the BREXIT, “Make America Great Again” slogan, USA-China tariff war, “Make in India” policy, etc. highlight the trend towards domestic priorities. Though such priorities are critical but very difficult to accomplish without international cooperation. Hence, it is imperative for governments and businesses to balance domestic priorities and global obligations to maximize the common good.
