About the university 

Ambedkar University Delhi, formerly Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University and often referred to as Ambedkar University Delhi or simply AUD is a state university established by the Government of the NCT of Delhi through an Act of the Delhi Legislature. The University began functioning in August 2008.

MA in Sociology

The School of Liberal Studies (SLS) offers Masters (MA) Programme in Sociology at AUD is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills that will make them engaged citizens of the world capable of critical thinking and reflexive action.

The unique approach of the program is its focus on orienting students to the relationship between text and context, self and society, and the past and present.

Over the course of their program, students develop a reflexive awareness of the historicity of the social and the ability to locate the history of the discipline within the sociology of knowledge production.

MA in History

The School of Liberal Studies (SLS) offers MA History programme is designed to impart an understanding of historical phenomena and processes as well as to transmit skills of historical analysis and encourage the historical imagination.

The programme teaches students to inquire historically while making use of insights and interpretive techniques of other disciplines, and it seeks to encourage a spirit of critical thinking about contemporary social questions.

MA in Economics

The School of Liberal Studies (SLS) offers Masters Programme in Economics provides students with a rigorous and in-depth advanced training in economic analysis, with a particular emphasis on equipping them with the ability to comprehend and think about contemporary economic issues including the challenges confronting developing countries like India.

MA in English

The Masters Programme in English proposes to dismantle the hierarchy between British Literature and other literatures in English, including literatures in translation. It seeks to bring into focus the significance of literatures belonging to lesser-known languages and regions.

The programme integrates interdisciplinary paradigms to facilitate a greater amalgamation between various literatures, theory and practice on the one hand, and between music, dance, theatre, cinema, literature and visual arts, on the other.

MA Gender Studies

The School of Human Studies (SHS) offers MA Gender Studies. The programme is an integral part of the interdisciplinary, intersectional and dynamic vision of AUD, which conceives of academic learning as providing students with a critical conceptual framework in its engagement with social realities and issues.

Consistent with this ideal, the MA Programme is envisaged as a thoroughly interdisciplinary one, drawing upon gendered analyses primarily from the social sciences and the humanities.

The School of Human Studies (SHS) offers MA Psychology (Psychosocial Clinical Studies).

This programme attempts to inculcate in students a capacity for clinical and critical thinking that will facilitate a nuanced sensitivity to diverse states of emotional experience, a regard for the margins of ‘Indian’ society and a capacity to theorise the same.
