About Vikram Sarabhai CompetitIon for Concept-Essay Writing 2019
Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) also known as “cradle of space sciences” was founded by Dr. Vikram A.Sarabhai, the father of Indian space programme, in the year 1947. On the occasion of the birth centenary year (2019-2020) of Dr. Sarabhai, PRL is conducting a pan India level essay competition. The school students of 8 to 12 standard can participate in this competition in two different categories (i.e. 8 – 10 standard and 11 – 12 standard). The essay may contain motivation, goals, and uniqueness of the concept among other relevant information.
“Home at a distant planet”
1st prize: Rs. 20,000
2nd prize: Rs. 15,000
3rd prize: Rs. 10,000
Additional: Rs. 2,000 (5 Prizes)
“Innovative experiments for space station”
1st prize: Rs. 25,000
2nd prize: Rs. 20,000
3rd prize: Rs. 15,000
Additional: Rs. 2,500 (5 Prizes)
The essay competition will be organized in two phases. First phase: thirty essays from each age group will be shortlisted. Second phase: All short-listed candidates will be invited to PRL for presentation and eight essays from each age group will be awarded cash prize and certificate.
* Essay should be typed and submitted online in PDF format. Scanned handwritten essays will not be considered
* Topic “Home at a distant planet”, the major criteria for evaluation will be the sustainability
* Topic “Innovative experiments for space station”, maximum two experiments under a single scientific theme need to be presented
* Students should submit the scan copy of the registration form (as available on PRL website) attested by the Principal/Head of the Institution with official seal with the essay
* Short listed candidates will be provided with 3 tier fare for railways by the shortest route to Ahmedabad. PRL will also provide local hospitality during the stay of the candidates
* Word limit: 3000 words. It should contain a summary up to 300 words, major highlights in three bullet points not exceeding 75 words, and a conclusion not more than 200 words.
* Typed on A4 size electronic page.
* Font size: 12 points, Type: Arial, and Line spacing: 1.5
* Margins of 1.5 cm on all sides
* Essay should be written in English
* Should be written by a single person
Last date of submission : 15th May 2019
Date of notification : 15th July 2019
Presentation : 10th August 2019
Prize distribution: 12th August 2019
