About the BITS Pilani

 

BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus offers First Degree, Higher Degree and Doctoral Programmes The medium of instruction is English for all the programmes in the University.

 

Admission is based entirely on the Candidate’s merit, facilities available and availability of seats in the discipline preferred.

 

Following Integrated First Degree Programmes (Bachelors Degree programmes) are available at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus with option of Practice School or Thesis/Seminars with a normal duration of 4 years:

B.E. Civil Engineering
B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
B.E. Mechanical Engineering
B.E. Computer Science
B.E. Biotechnology
B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering
The Higher Degree Programmes are uniquely designed and structured for Engineers who are employed professionals or in the pursuit of seeking employment and want to continue their education and upgrade to the next level.

Following Higher Degree Programmes (Masters Degree Programmes) of 2 years duration are available :
M.E. Design Engineering
M.E. Electrical (with specialization in Power Electronics and Drives)
M.E. Microelectronics
M.E. Software Systems
M.B.A.

Applications are also invited to the Doctoral Programmes (Ph.D) in Engineering and Allied disciplines.

 

 

Eligibility criteria for all the Programmes

 

The following eligibility criteria is applicable for admission to BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus. A candidate seeking admission to a particular programme has to meet the eligibility criteria for that programme as given below
Eligibility Criteria for admission to Integrated First Degree Programmes
For admission to any of the first degree programmes, Candidates must have passed the requisite Qualifying Examination, which is the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination of Ministry of Education, UAE or Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE-12th grade), New Delhi, India, or its equivalent from any recognized State, National or International board with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. (Please refer Equivalency Table given on the right panel for equivalences. If your high school board is not found in the equivalency table, clarification can be sought from the Admissions Office).
The candidates must have obtained a minimum 60% overall aggregate* of marks in the qualifying examination and must have a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subjects with at least 50% marks in each subject. However, for admission to B.E. Biotechnology, Candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Biology will also be accepted with a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects with at least 50% marks in each subject. If a Candidate has secured less than 50% marks in any one of these subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology but meets the aggregate criteria mentioned above, he/she may be considered for provisional admission. The admission will be confirmed only upon the successful completion of a remedial course in that subject with a minimum grade of ‘C’, offered by the institute preferably before the commencement of the first semester. If instead of marks any letter grades or GPA are awarded (or any other system of evaluation), their equivalences in marks will be decided by the Admissions Committee..
English is the medium of instruction, therefore good proficiency in English is essential for admission. Candidates who have completed their qualifying examination from Non-English medium must have secured a minimum TOEFL Score of 500 in paper based test or 61 in internet based test or have an IELTS Score of 5 or above. If necessary, they will also be assessed by a campus committee for English comprehension.
*Overall Aggregate:: Aggregate is the total marks of all subjects in the Qualifying Examination, considered essential by the Board / University for passing the examination. The Aggregate must compulsorily contain the required subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology. The position in the merit list will be based mainly only on this aggregate

Note: Admission is based on the Grade 12 marks (or its equivalent) and there is no separate Admission Test for Dubai Campus.Please go through Admission Bulletin carefully for all details on the Admission Process.

Eligibility criteria for admission to Higher Degree Programmes

A minimum aggregate of 60% in the qualifying degree as indicated below for each programme.

M.E. Design: B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent

M.E. Electrical: B.E. / B.Tech. in EEE, E&I or ECE or its equivalent

M.E. Microelectronics: B.E. / B.Tech. in EEE/E&I/ECE/CS or M.Sc. Physics or its equivalent

M.E. Software Systems: B.E. / B.Tech. /M.Sc./M.C.A or equivalent

M.B.A. Programmes: B.E. / B.Tech. / Masters Degree in any discipline or its equivalent

Candidates who meet the above criteria will be required to appear and successfully clear the Aptitude test / Interview to qualify for admission.

Eligibility criteria for admission to Doctoral Programmes (Ph.D.)

M.E. / M.S. / M.B.A. / M.Phil. of BITS Pilani or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate.

 

Eligible Candidates will be required to take a written test and interview. The admission will be based on the performance in the qualifying degree, experience, test and interview.

Application Procedure for the First Degree Programmes

 

Academic year 2020-21

 

1. Read the Admission Bulletin 2020-21 carefully.

2. Application for Admission must be filled online.

 

Online Application procedure: (Read instructions given below before proceeding to fill the online form).

 

a. Visit www.bits-pilani.ac.in/dubai and click on “Apply Online” under Admissions.

b. Enter all the information required carefully and correctly in the online form.

c. Ensure the correctness of all entered data before submission. Once you confirm the correctness of the entered information and submit the form, the entered data will be recorded and you will not be able to change it.

d. On submission you will be allotted a unique reference number and you will be directed to proceed for Application fee payment.

e. You have the option of paying the fee online through Debit or Credit Card or paying offline either by Cash or Bank Transfer ((Refer Section 5 below for fee details)

f. Upon successful completion of online application fee payment you will be allotted a unique application number and you will be instructed to upload your documents.

g. Upload the required documents (jpeg or pdf format) and your submission will be complete.

h. In the event you opt for offline application fee payment (Cash or bank transfer), send the proof of fee payment along with Applicant’s name and Application reference number by email to admission@dubai.bits-pilani.ac.in for the allotment of unique application number.

i. Upon receipt of the unique application number, you can proceed to upload the required documents(jpeg or pdf format) and your submission will be complete.

3. For candidates submitting the application and fee online, the system will generate a unique application number.. For those candidates who are opting for offline submission or payment, a unique application number will be allotted and informed to the candidate by the institute on receipt of the application and fee

4. Documents required to be submitted with the application form:

a. Copy of mark sheet of the Qualifying Examination, such as General Secondary Education Certificate of Ministry of Education, UAE or Senior School Certificate of CBSE, New Delhi, India or its equivalent.

b. Copy of the 10th Grade mark sheet.

c. Passport copy (first 3 pages and last page). Candidates, who do not possess

a valid Passport at the time of applying, must enclose a declaration along with the Application, that they will email the required Passport pages on or before the last date.

d. Candidates applying under the GCC category must submit the passport copy of the parent residing in the GCC country with valid Residence Visa Stamp.

e. TOEFL/IELTS Score Report (For candidates from Non-English Medium Schools only).

f. Copy of Score Report of BITSAT, if appeared. If the score is not available at the time of applying, email / upload the same as soon as the result is available.

 

Note: BITSAT is not compulsory for Dubai Campus admission.

 

5. Application Fee to be paid at the time of submission of application form:

An amount of AED 220.00 only (Arab Emirates Dirhams Two hundred and Twenty only) payable online by Debit/ Credit Card or payable offline either by Cash or Bank Transfer (Refer Page 25 in Admission Bulletin for bank details). Application received without application fee will not be considered.

6. The last date for submitting the Application form is 18 June 2020 for admission to the I Semester (commencing 25th August 2020) and 10 December 2020 for the II Semester (commencing 19th Jan 2021).

Scholarships

 

A large number of scholarships and fee concessions under various categories are available for admitted students. Meritorious students are offered Tuition Fee scholarship and Hostel Fee concession based on the Grade 12 marks. Students with BITSAT score are also eligible for Tuition Fee scholarship and Hostel Fee concession based on the score.

Visa Terms & Conditions

 

• It is mandatory for all students to have a valid U.A.E. residence visa to study at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus (BPDC).
• If parent or guardian cannot sponsor the student or if the student is a non-resident of UAE, then BPDC can facilitate U.A.E. Student Residence Visa (visa) through Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP) and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) subject to the submission and approval of necessary documents given in the student residence visa application form (visa form) rules & regulations of BPDC and Government of UAE (Govt). DKP is the visa sponsor as they are providing the visa to the students. As a facilitator, BPDC only co-ordinates between DKP and students for obtaining the student visa.
