Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad invites applications for the position of Post Doctoral Research Associates under Prof. Debjit Roy

We are inviting Post Doctoral Research Associates who can work in the interface of operations and data science. The associate will work on projects such as warehousing operations, last-mile delivery. Today, data from various sources are available in abundance: sensor and tracking data (IoT), demand, traffic and weather forecasts, etc. It, however, remains largely unclear how this data can be used effectively to improve operations. Consequently, the main goal is to develop data-driven optimization techniques to improve operational efficiency while reducing costs, increasing customer satisfaction, and lowering the ecological impact.

Research responsibilities include developing new methodologies, which typically involves Mathematical programming, Optimization and Machine learning. The associate is expected to pursue scientific research in cooperation with companies, and publish research results in scientific journals. This position is based out of Ahmedabad, India. The candidate also participates in the education program and workshops.

Required Qualifications & Skills

* Applicants should have completed Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a comparable domain. Fluency in English is required.

* The candidate must be comfortable in programming languages such as Java/C++ and R/Python. The candidate must be aware of developments in Data Science tools.

* Exceptional MSc students in Operations Research can also be considered.

* Post Doctoral Research Associates are expected to work independently within the scope of their responsibilities.

Duration

The position will be initially offered for a period of six months and may be extended depending on performance, at the discretion of the faculty supervisor.
