The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications from outstanding and enthusiastic researchers for post-Doctoral position under the joint mentorship of Dr Naveen K Navani (BSBE Department), and Dr Pradeep K Srivastava (Department of Earth Sciences) focussed on ‘Microbial applications in Civil Engineering & Earth Sciences’ to work on “Contribution of Microorganisms in Paleo-landslide zone – Exploring role of microbes as a signature marker for land-slide prone zones”.

Candidate should be passionate about working on cutting edge research leading to high impact publications, projects and technology.

A walk-in interview will be held at 3.00 PM on March 1, 2022 in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Venue – Faculty Room on the ground floor.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

Essential qualifications*

M.Sc. Biotechnology or Molecular Biology with experience in cloning and expression aspects of microbiology, followed by Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology with experience in application of above knowledge in Civil engineering/Earth sciences.

a) Desirable qualifications/specialization

Candidate should have working knowledge of application of Microbiology/Biotechnology to building materials or Bio-cementing areas which should be supported by minimum of two publications in Q1 Journals.

*Candidates who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis are also eligible to apply subject to the condition that they will furnish the proof of award of Ph.D. at the time of the interview

Duration and Fellowship Amount:

The duration of the fellowship will be of two years. The candidate is expected to join the department as soon as the offer letter has been released. The fellow will receive a consolidated pay as below in addition to the contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- per annum.

First & Second Year: Rs. 55,000/- per month

Third year: Rs. 60,000/- per month (if extended )

(i) All the post-doctoral fellows (PDF) will be registered as IIT Roorkee students for availing facilities of accommodation, hospital, medical insurance scheme, computer centre, library, sports, etc.
