Applications are invited from recognized Indian Institutions, research laboratoriesand leading scientific / medical centers doing scientific research work on Cancer.This grant advertisement lays special emphasis on 1)Leukemia,2)Biology and Treatment of Cancer.

THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL

The research proposal forms the basis of your application and is split into foursections:

• Description of the proposed research
• Outline of experimental approaches
• Outputs and impact
• Team make-up

For the description of the proposed research please:

• Explain your vision for the proposal and the main research objectives

• Describe how your proposal is both innovative, multi-disciplinary in its approach and has translational potential in the near term.

• Do not exceed 1000 words for this section (excluding figures, figure legends, timelines and Gantt charts)

• Please provide a complete list of references at the end of the proposal, this will not be included in the overall word count.

For the outline of experimental approaches:

Define the major experimental approaches to be used for each objective.
Do not exceed 500 words for this section

For the outputs and impact section please:

• Give an overview of the key milestones of your proposal and how you plan to measure these.
• Describe the impact your proposal will have on the research landscape and how this will translate into patient benefit.
• Do not exceed 500 words for this section (excluding figures, figure legends, timelines and Gantt charts).

For team make-up please provide the following information:

• Your team make-up and the steps you will take to create links with researchers and other experts to develop theteam
• Why the proposed team is the best to address the challenge and how a team approach will support the achievement of the research objectives?
• Do not exceed 500 words for this section.

METHOD OF APPLICATION and REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION:

1. Online application may be submitted on ladytatatrust.org, together with all supporting papers, as detailed in the application. It should be forwardedthrough the Head of the Institution.

2. The online application should be submitted latest by 15th February 2021. The Indian Scientific Advisory Committee of the Trust will scrutinize the application andinform the Principal Investigator (PI)whose projects have been shortlistedbyend-April 2021. The PI will be invited to present their projects soon thereafter, and the results will be communicated by May2021.

3. The quantum of grant to be sanctioned depends on the topic of research, duration of research and requirements for conducting the research, as reviewed and recommended by the Indian Scientific Advisory Committee of the Trust. In this round the trust can approve a maximum of four projects with a cap of Rs110 lakhs per proposal for leukemia and four proposals forBiology and Treatmentof Cancer with a cap of Rs 50 lakhs per proposal.

4. The Research Project should not exceed a duration of threeyears in the first instance.
