Post-Doctoral Fellowships Applications are invited from Indian Nationals, with the consistently good academic record and interdisciplinary research potential, for 4 full-time Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDFs) to carry out research in the broad area of industrial engineering and allied areas as mentioned in the faculty webpage of the institute.

These are temporary research positions which may be offered to those who seek to choose research as a profession. The research work during the Post-Doctoral period is encouraged to be in interdisciplinary areas of mutual interest to both the Post-Doctoral Fellows and the Institute. Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to further enhance the interdisciplinary research culture at the Institute.

Applicant’s Eligibility

Post-Doctoral Fellowship is intended for person normally below 35 years of age. However for persons from teaching institutions recognized by AICTE/UGC or persons sponsored by DSIR recognized industrial organizations, the maximum age limit shall be 45 years.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship will be awarded to persons holding Ph.D. degree or equivalent degree like Fellows from IIMs and has published quality research work/patents to their credit.

Short Listing Criteria

* Applicants will be short listed based on the weightage on academic record, research experience, research publications (both quality & quantity), and patents. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for research seminar and interaction with the faculty members of the institute.

* Candidates having a Fellow degree from NITIE are discouraged for the PDF position immediately after completion of their degree, till they gain at least one year experience from another academic institute or industry.

Reservation

* Government of India notification for reservation of seats for OBC/SC/ST and age relaxation for SC/ST will apply.

* Candidates admitted under the reserved quota will necessarily have the minimum qualification stated in para 1 above.

Tenure

* The Post-Doctoral Fellowship awarded to a researcher will be for a total period of two years, renewable on yearly basis.

* The renewal of fellowship can be made on consideration of the research work carried out in the preceding year by an Assessment Committee

Fellowship Grant

* The Post-Doctoral Fellowship shall carry fixed monthly fellowship of Rs. 60,000/- (1st year) and 65000/- (2nd year). The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also be eligible for non-lapsable contingency grant of 50,000/ p.a.

* The fellowship for PDF candidate with prior PDF/industrial experience will be decided by the selection committee on a case to case basis.

* The extension of PDF fellowship including the proposed enhancement will be evaluated on a yearly basis and need to be approved by the institute assessment committee on recommendation from the concerned Area based on their teaching and researchcontributions in the previous year(s).

Responsibilities

Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to pursue interdisciplinary research in one of the disciplines of the Institute with a Mentor Faculty Member who will essentially perform the role of a collaborator. Developing the research activities of the NITIE by sustaining a personal research plan independently and /or in collaboration with others as part of a larger research team. This will involve identifying sources of funding, submitting funding bids, gaining positive reviews for these, planning and managing the research and supervising and guiding the work

of post graduate and fellow students. Publishing original research in A* and A grade (top) or equivalent journals or other media, as appropriate. Attending appropriate conferences to disseminate research results or for personal development.

Also, the Post-Doctoral Fellow shall offer upto 8 hours per week for academic assistance, including in teaching, handling of tutorials and guiding laboratory work of students.

Other Facilities

* The Fellow will be provided accommodation in the campus subject to availability and on payment of usual license fee etc., as prescribed to Institute employees. Married Accommodation subject to availability can also be availed, if they are married and having their family staying with them. They will be provided accommodation in PGP hostels, if they are unmarried.

* Candidates called for interview would be provided accommodation and would be eligible for reimbursement of train fare by II A.C.
