PhD positions are available in the SKB lab – where science is fun! (www.skblab.org) at the School of Biological Sciences, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. The prospective PhD candidate will work on Australian Research Council (ARC) funded projects on molecular basis of thermal responses and/or evolutionary analysis of alternative splicing in plants. SKB lab has been using a combination of genetic, computational, and molecular approaches to address fundamental biological aspects. PhD students would have the opportunity to work on projects that involve both wet lab and computational components to varying degrees. Please see our recent works to get an overview (Eimer et al, Cell, 2018; Tasset et al, PLoS Genetics, 2018; Sureshkumar et al, Nature Plants, 2016; Zhu et al, PLoS Genetics, 2015).
Funding is available through competitive scholarship schemes, which are also open to International Candidates. Monash University is in Melbourne, Australia which is a great place to live and SKB lab is a fun place to work.
