National Institute of Technology, Manipur is an institute of National Importance situated in Imphal, Manipur, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India. NIT Manipur started its first academic session in 2010.

Details of the departmental requirements:

• Civil  Engineering   :-  Specialization  : –  Water Resources, Hydrology & Channel Hydraulics: Climate Change Hydrodynamics, Hydrological Modelling, Hydrographic Surveying, GIS & Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology & Water Resources,
  Flood Modelling & Forecasting, Water Balance Analysis, Experimental Hydraulics Sediment Transport Structural Engineering: steel structure, Earthquake resistant design of structures, Performance based design structures. Environmental Engineering. GIS, Remote sensing and spatial statistics. Environmental hydraulics, computational fluid dynamics, hydrological modelling with GIS, water distribution system ; Essential Qualifications  :-   Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or
  equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technologyor MSc/MCA (wherever applicable) in related areas with an excellent academic record, with a CPI equivalent to 70% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute with valid GATE score.
• Computer Science Engineering  : –   Specialization  : –  Cryptography, Speech Processing, Information Security ; Essential Qualifications  :-   1st Class in both B.Tech ((IT/CSE) & M.Tech/M.E (IT/CSE) with Gate Score or B.Tech with 70 % and valid GATE
  Score preferably from Institute of National Importance
• Electrical Engineering    : –   Specialization  : –   Control System    ;  Essential Qualifications  :-  Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in anappropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology or  MSc/MCA (wherever applicable) in related areas with an excellent academic record, with a CPI equivalent to 70% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by
  the University/Institute with valid GATE score.
• Electronics and Communication engineering    :-  Specialization  : – Wireless Communication Engineering, Microstrip antenna and FSS design for wireless communication. ;  ;  Essential Qualifications  :-   Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in anappropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology or  MSc/MCA (wherever applicable) in related areas with an excellent academic record, with a CPI equivalent to 70% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute with valid GATE score.
• Mechanical Enigineering :-  Specialization  : –  Thermal Engineering: Renewable energy, IC engine, biofuels, RSM optimization, Thermal and Fluids:  Electronic Cooling and Heat Sink; Jet Impingement cooling; Film Cooling in supersonic Flow, Manufacturing: Advanced Manufacturing, Electric Discharge Machining, Natural composites materials; and Thermal  engineering: biodiesel, IC engine background   ;  Essential Qualifications  :-   Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in anappropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology or  MSc/MCA (wherever applicable) in related areas with an excellent academic record, with a CPI equivalent to 70% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute with valid GATE score.
• Chemistry  :-  Specialization  : –  Material Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Material Chemistry and catalysis  ;  Essential Qualifications  :-   Master Degree in Science in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/ Institute
• Mathematics   :-  Specialization  :    Fixed point theory, Numerical Analysis, Finite Element Method, Applied Mathematics, Microstrip antenna and FSS design for wireless communication, complex analysis- extremal properties of polynomial.  ;  Essential Qualifications  :-   Master Degree in Science in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/ Institute

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The mode of recruitment will be done online.

SYLLABUS FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

The syllabus for the entrance examination will be the GATE syllabus of the concerned discipline or syllabus prescribed by the concerned departments.

STIPEND / FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Assistantship to the regular students (NET/GATE or equivalent) as per MHRD rules may be given subject to availability of fund. The candidate with no NET/GATE will be in self sponsored category

LEGAL JURISDICTION

All other cases, not covered in PhD Ordinances shall be referred to the Senate. All disputes pertaining to the counseling and admission for the Ph.D. programme of NIT Manipur shall fall within the jurisdiction of Imphal, Manipur only.
