About the IIM

To apply for admission to the Master in Business Administration (MBA) a candidate must qualify the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institute of Managements. The details of the CAT can be found at www.iimcat.ac.in

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) category)], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Admission Process for Overseas candidates

Overseas candidates including NRIs who seek admission to IIM Shillong (IIMS) Master in Business Administration (MBA) can apply in the prescribed application form furnishing their latest GMAT scores. The scores should not be older than 24 months as on the last date of application. The Institute considers the GMAT scores of the candidates living abroad in lieu of CAT score. The overseas candidates who happen to be in India during the CAT examination, should appear in the CAT (for valid eligible score refer www.iimcat.ac.in)

An Indian citizen living abroad (studying or employed) will qualify as an overseas candidate for the purpose of considering themselves for admission only if the period of stay is not less than 18 months . There is no reservation for overseas candidates and the offer of admission will be made solely on the basis of merit as in the case of other applicants taking CAT.

What do we look for?

While the profile  of students admitted to each batch may differ each year one thing that all students share is an ambition to make a difference in society and work.

We look for students with  strong analytical skills and a orientation towards outcome, as reflected in their CAT or GMAT scores and in their academic  and work performance. And also those with a social or community orientation.

The Post Graduate Program in Management is a two year  residential program

Financial Aid and Fees

The Institute assists the participants in availing educational loans from banks during the admission process. The details regarding the process are made available to the participants after they are offered admission to the Institute.

The Institute endeavors that no candidate be denied opportunity to pursue the Post Graduate Programme for want of adequate financial resources. Keeping this in mind, IIM Shillong has provision for Need Based Financial Assistance Scheme to help economically weak MBA participants. The number of scholarship awardees and quantum of assistance is decided on the basis of annual gross family income, participants liquidity, credit worthiness and her/his overall suitability for the same.

In addition, there are scholarships made available to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/People with Disabilities (PWD) participants by Government of India. The details regarding the quantum, eligibility, process, etc. are available at https://scholarships.gov.in

Reservations

IIM Shillong adheres to the Government of India reservation policy for admission to Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and as applicable to the Institute.

Disclaimers about the admission process followed by IIMS for its MBA subsequent to CAT

• The entire process of shortlisting and selection of candidates at IIM Shillong for its Post Graduate Program is independent of all other IIMs.
• Performance in CAT and consistently well academic record are important criteria for short-listing of candidates to the second stage of admission process. Candidates should note that it is important to perform well relative to other candidates at each stage of the process.
• A candidature would automatically stand cancelled, if at any point of the admission process, the candidate does not respond and adhere to the requirements of the process.
• IIM Shillong would take adequate measures to maintain transparency during the admission process.IIM Shillong, however, would protect the privacy of all the individual candidates and confidentiality of the process to prevent abuse. Based on these considerations, the performance details of an individual are not made available to any other person.
• The Candidates appearing in the post shortlisting phase (GD/ PI/any other), will be able to check their status regarding admission offer by IIMS Shillong by the Middle of May 2018 by visiting the institute’s website. The same information, along with offer document, will be sent over to the candidate’s registered e-mail. Such Candidates, who are offered admission, will need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities within the stipulated time frame. Failing to do so will forfeit their candidature and the offer will be made to candidates on wait-list. Wait list candidates may be required to respond to admission offer, if made at a short notice.
• The Institute reserves the right to revoke the offer of admission to any candidate not fulfilling the offer-acceptance requirements as per specifications.
• Any attempt by a candidate or by anyone on his/her behalf to influence the admission process at any stage will result in summarily termination of his/her candidature.

Important Information

In the event of specific guidelines being issued by Government of India and/or under specific circumstances, IIM Shillong reserves the right to continue with the aforesaid selection procedure which may include calling for additional information from short-listed candidates, or even an alternative procedure, or a supplementary test. Care will be taken to ensure that candidates are not put to undue inconvenience. All such candidates will be contacted through their registered email id and mobile number as available in CAT data. All sorts of information related to the admission will be communicated to the students only.
